We also pay council tax about 2-3k and tv licence. If you don’t pay tv licence they send it the swat team

Don't forget that we also pay a further 20% (vat) on everything we buy with that remaining money. 😒

Wrong is £79868, if you earn £50271 gross a year that puts you into the 40% tax bracket and that's not including national insurance a year then council tax then road tax and tax on everything you buy, and the NHS is shit might be free to some point but you will probably die before you even get to see the dr

The worst part isnt even the hogh taxes we pay in the UK. Its the horrible quality of services we get back for it

And most of the time it feels like that money goes nowhere

Was it that hard to say pounds instead of dollars

For those who are glorifying free health care, its horrible quality. If you had a 100k job in the US would likely give you an insurance as part of your job thats way better than what you get in the UK.

Americans don’t understand the concept of “total tax burden”. Now take into account sales tax, property tax, car registration, health insurance and road tolls. Taxes in America are much higher

I wouldn’t mind that at all for the healthcare.

Yeah good luck making that there. Even doctors are just at an average of £106, 000 (which is about $123k and above this but still, pretty darn low for a doctor)

I really don’t see a whole lot of difference here than the US- Plus they get healthcare… We have so much Social Security taken out that we may never see. Yeah I’d switch

Council Tax
Road Tax
VAT
Duty’s

Now if you are American citizen working there, you are screwed with dual US, UK taxes 🤣

Yea but we have free health care 1 car accident can cost more than 30, 000 dollars to treat in usa

We have the highest tax in Europe. The NHS is so crap, and it isn't completely free, that's what national insurance is. We get taxed on everything.

That amounts to also 32% of ur whole income going to taxes per month right? Hows that even possible its so high? Any legal way around it?

The majority of Americans actually pay more in tax than people in the UK because of tax bands.
