Is It Really Worth Owning The Jaguar F Type?

Today I take my Jaguar F Type R to the dealer for some maintenance and a couple of repairs and can't help but ask, is it really worth it? We dream of these cars or any other beautiful cars and then we buy it. Once the honeymoon is over, is it really worth it?

I also share my recent service bill for a point of reference.

I have only been to the dealer for a couple oil filters and the Castrol Edge Professional 0W-20 in the last couple years. Last time I changed I wrote 6.3litres. 18 F type R. Will do it again myself.
To clear the service light:(without a code reader)
Turn on ignition (foot off brake so engine doesn't start)
Open the bonnet and the driver's door
Stand on the brake and throttle fully for 10 seconds
Turn off ignition
Close the bonnet
Turn on the ignition
Service indicator should be reset

That’s quite a procedure!!

Only 17k kilometers on car.
Had a front differential leak fixed after 1st year at dealership.
Might change the rear differential myself soon. If it’s the same Castrol BOT 750B oil, it isn’t cheap oil.
Cheers Mark.

My honeymoon phase is over with my f type. I used to watch videos on it all the time and think about doing work on it. Doing other life things has my time divided. But when I get into my F Type, it's hard to imagine driving anything else. This car is what I want to drive when I go anywhere. It's the car I want to get in and out of any place I go

I work at Starbucks, and I finally saved enough to get my own. My co workers are shocked, they all want to go for a ride lol

I walked into my local Jaguar land rover dealer in April here in the UK and fate put me in front of a f-type 400 sport limited edition. 2018, one owner, 4000 miles, full service history, perfect, as new condition, in silver. Owned by a Scottish Laird and used as his weekend drive!
I drove it. Fell in love with it and purchased it there and then! It is worth every single penny, just for the grin factor alone!
If the exhaust note doesn't make you grin from ear to ear, then you need your bumps checking!!
Don't contemplate it. Just get one. Whilst you still can!!
Really great vids and info on your channel. It's great to hear other owners experience's and thoughts.

Why is it that I love driving my Jag F-Type and my mid engine Porsche has turned into a garage queen? I love the sound of the F type and how it feels. People stare and stare at it. Many think it is an Italian exotic. Here in Silicon Valley, the Porsche is quite common and thus F type turns a lot more heads than anything else plus has the fun factor :)

Thats the NICEST F-Type I've ever seen, what model is that? The "red" trim on the spoiler is that stock? that looks GREAT

They really are under-rated supercars and arguably border-line exotics. I'm in Idaho in the US. Land/Range Rovers are prevalent in Eagle (aka "Little California") but you almost never see Jaguars, let alone F-Types or the R. The head-cranks I get at crowded intersections from peeps in Corvettes, Camaros, and Challengers/Chargers when I get on it coming around a corner is comical. They don't know what they're hearing or seeing.

I love my F-Type. Had it for one year now. It's an 2018 P380 AWD. It has now driven 52.000 km. I just had the 4 year service at the dealer, same things as you told about, and paid 840 Euro = 1166 CAD. So almost same price here in Germany. I experience NO troubles, and have driven 26.000 km in the one year i had it. Greatings.

Great vid….love my F-Type. Where did you get the red detailing done on the spoiler and rear diffuser? It looks awesome! Want to do that on mine….

Thanks Mark, I have a Jag specialist nearby me and will price the same up with them. But your price converted to £665 which I think is pricey, but we get hosed here in the UK too. I'd rather give the servicing to independent specialists, they are genuine enthusiasts which is why they started their business in the first place I guess. But as the Jags are made here you'd think we should get a fair price, but no, generally I'd expect around the £500 mark for this. I will certainly let you & the viewers know. As for the point of cost and ownership....in my life it's been rare to get what I really wanted, now that I have and I am still pinching myself, telling others will only have them tell you that's expensive. I know it is, I don't care, really. I've always paid over odds for fuel too, so what's new? Having actually got a car of my dreams that's what, how much is anyone else willing to pay? Then again I'd never ask, if they get the car of their dreams I would be just so happy for them and say "yes" nice one now go & enjoy!

Loved the video! I'm on Vancouver Island and doing the research on the F-Type (ragtop) for summer cruisin. I agree, Canucks are constantly bent over the table on costs. I've had an '87 XJ12 so I'm familiar with the service costs for Jag but I wanted to hear about them specific to the F-Type. Just need to decide on year and power, 6 or 8. Thanks for the vid!

For comparison, I use to pay that much for some bigger scheduled maintenance servicing at the dealer for an Infiniti G35 manual coupe back in 2007

So for a $100K vehicle new, that’s actually pretty good

Mark, your F-Type is absolutely beautiful. Can you please share the color and if that's a production selection? Also, please share a little about the rims.
Thank you.

To be fair whichever model you get and in whatever colour you get they are achingly gorgeous! Had mine three years now and still beam whilst driving it! Just driven from London to Birmingham effortlessly and got out as fresh as I got in. I’d update to a newer one in a heartbeat. Worth every penny and actually it’s hardly depreciated at all!! So unlike my other drivers car my Alfa Giulia..

My F-Type V8 is the only car I’ve owned in 40 years of buying mostly sports cars that I would buy again. In fact, I don’t see myself ever being without one. It’s been free, too, as it’s worth about what I paid 5 years ago.

From France. Of corse it’s worth owning and keeping the car. Mine is the V6 S and after 8 years still happy with it. I decided to keep it for ever. Same issu with the start stop, normally due to the battery . Sorry for my possible mistakes. I am suscribed to your chanel.
Mikel.

thanks for the video. I'm in Utah. I have a red 2014 S convertible and absolutely love it. Bought it for $34k. It has 33k miles. I had to fix the O2 sensors for $500 NOT at the Jag dealership. The dealership is always a lot more $. My oil change is only about $120. I've owned 2 now. My take is the F-type will generally have issues come up now and then and the dealership always overcharges. I've found another reputable shop that can work on the jag. My warranty has ended. Sooo worth it.

Things that affect stop/start
Low engine operating temperature.

To maintain the interior climate.

The battery charge level is low.

The outside temperature is too low or too high.

Opening the driver door when in motion.

The heated windshield is on.

ABSOLUTELY gorgeous!! I can't decide between a black, silver, and white exterior!

That is seriously, seriously good looking car. XK 2006-2014 was also very beautiful. My dream car is an air cooled 911 964 or 993 (I can't afford one anymore as they have become ridiculously expensive) but from the modern cars Jaguar F-Type is the one. It's not too big like the new mammoth 911's (that I don't like at all). Very compact which I think is really important for a sports car. Keep up the good work man and enjoy the beautiful Jag.
