The stitches in the toe came out of mine on the first trip I used mine- 60 miles in the Grand Canyon. Soles come out in mine. I got the wide size and the fit is perfect for me.

Great review. Takeaway? Check your insoles to make sure the factory didn’t accidentally sew them inside. Obviously a quality control issue when they “fixed” the dreaded toe flap issue that’s plagued Altras’ for years now. Another reviewer said the stitching on his new pair came out after the first trip. Maybe they should just put a big brass rivet on the flap? Might be a branding game changer.

Thanks for the review. So far, so good for my 5.0's. I wear out my insoles before the rest of the shoe and have called Altra about it . They just send me new insoles.

I got a pair of Lone Peak 5’s after a lot of research. Love mine. Both my insoles come out. :) Great review. Mine are bluish grey and they look pretty good.

I stocked up on and had been using the 3.5s since they discontinued them. Skipped over the 4.0 and 4.5s from all the bad things I heard about them. Picked up a pair of these finally like 2 weeks ago as they finally appeared to address a lot of the complaints. Sizing is definitely different for me on the 5s.

I was a 12 in the 3.5s and the 12 in the 5s felt way too tight on the top of my foot. Even tried different lacing options to no avail. Then tried the 12 wides and they felt like clown shoes. Finally tried the 11.5 wide and those were my happy medium. Just started testing them today and they felt good. Hopefully that continues as they wear in. Hoping that stitching at the toe cup holds up too.

Yup, I like mine thus far. Just got brand new pair of 4.5 and 5’s in size 13.
I will say the 5.0 is running a tad bigger. No doubt about it, although the difference is not huge, it is running bigger than the 4.5.

Bet there was an errant bit of glue holding that insole stuck in the shoe. My old feet don’t love the Altra Lonepeaks for all day hiking but they go with me when I have a lot of water crossings because I can still manage a day or two if necessary. Not a bad bike packing shoe with flat pedals and a good insole either.

Interesting comments on sizing of different versions. Here is mine...have 5 pair of 3.5s....size 16. Bought a pair of 4.5s they appear to be a size larger. Tried switching out insoles and the difference was apparent both insoles were identical but appear a half inch long in the 3.5s. My guess is difference in sizing may be dependent on which size you compare.

Man this was a nice review you did of the shoes. The colors are pretty awesome. I just wish they made them for a wide foot. I have big very very wide feet sz15 6 wide with very fat wide toe that are equally straight across making my foot very very extremely 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe. I cannot find a shoe, sock, or boot that is wide enough to fit my foot. The only Footwear that I can find that will barely and I mean barely fit my foot is flip flop which Will barely fit my foot because my toes are wider than the Flip flops strap. It is very difficult trying to hike in flip-flops and my buddies think I'm crazy for doing it but they understand that is the only Footwear that I can fit in and appreciate me still coming out and Hiking with him. I just wish I could find a pair of hiking shoes that would fit my foot. I tell you it really really sucks having very very extremely wide foot with fat wide toes that are equally straight across. I wish my toes were at a 45 degree angle like everybody else's toes instead of being equally straight across maybe I could find a shoes that will fit me. When I was young I used to get laughed at all the time for having a very very extremely wide foot with big toe at the time but I never thought my foot would outgrow shoes and socks and I would had to live my life barefooted 👣 Style. I really like those shoes. I just Wish I could get a pair. Thank you for your video sir it was a good one. Take it easy.

Too bad Altra keeps improving the Lone Peaks without improving. The 3.5 where almost perfect and long lasting. luckily I still have 4 brand new pairs ;-) keep us updated how the 5.0 last... happy hiking bro
