2022 Toyota GR86 review by The Straight Pipes. The Toyota GR 86 is putting down 228 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque from a 2.4L 4 cylinder boxer engine. At under $30,000 USD, would you take it over the Subaru BRZ, Nissan 400Z, Mazda MX-5 Miata?

That interior is a breath of fresh air. Buttons, dials, simple forms and no black gloss? Shout-out Toyota for making a nice interior that can be used by humans driving a car.

This is my favorite car of this generation and I'm so excited to get behind the wheel of one. With the new engine, it's feasible to squeeze out 250~ish hp and 200~ish torque without boosting and compromising the car's reliability, which is like the perfect amount for the car in near-stock form. Having virtually no torque dip gives it enough grunt to hold its own against 350z's in the straights while dominating them in the corners, which is a great benchmark for the car. I also ADORE the simplicity and functionality of the interior with all of its pragmatic quirks such as the climate controls and matte surfaces. The level of control conveyed in your footage shows that the car will not only be safe, but rewarding for any car enthusiast. I see this as being this generation's gateway car that creates new car enthusiasts and inspires more driving enthusiasts. Truly, the ideal car for a new enthusiast or even a more seasoned driver looking for a fun daily. What a time to be alive.

I still comeback to this video from time to time because of how clean and perfect that intro was. This video in general is just too satisfying.

This music, those camera angles, and the motion of the car... cinematic perfection of an intro!

I’m 20 and just bought one, no regrets at all. I absolutely love it

It genuinely makes me sad that this is probably one of the last cars ever that will be built like this. Gas powered, manual transmission, RWD. It seems like every car is just going to be the same thing in the coming years and as a life long car enthusiast, I'm not excited about it.

Judging from the first few shots I see that this car likes to slide around a lot, I love it

It looks like you guys were having a ton of fun; it goes to show you don't need to spend a lot of money to have a fun track weapon. Well done!

These guys practically sell the cars to you! YouTube car reviews have evolved so much! What a great time to be alive! We might have lost the original top gear but what we’ve gained is so much better on YouTube

So far every review of this car has been good, i think toyota got this one right. All about feel and fun not always about raw power.

I love the GR86’s looks, it’s like a mix of a gr yaris and the 1st gen 86, Toyota did a great job with their new and cooler cars
