I would say an emotional solo is a solo that fits and adds to the music tastefully.

It's all about passion, which is why the best guitarists like Gilmour, Steve Vai, Jimmy Page, George Lynch, etc all are technically proficient and drip emotion on every note.

So in my opinion, a solo that makes you feel the emotion the artist wants to evoke, works with the music and idea, and is interesting equals a great and passionate solo for me. Gilmour is the unsung hero at this.

Everyone, the secret to getting close to Gilmour's thick tone on the studio version of Comfortably Numb is Automatic Double Tracking (ADT) and a rotary amp effect, not chorus or flanger.

@00xenomorph00 How can you say that!?!? Nobody can ever play any of Gilmour's music better than the man himself. Gilmour attacks his guitar with every ounce of passion he has and quite frankly, I have not seen anyone else replicate this. I have heard and seen many people cover his material but not one has brought me to tears. Gilmour can break me down like a sledge hammer. I'm not doubting Jamie's talent or anybody else at that but David Gilmour is the only person fit for playing his stuff.
