Great stuff. I'm learning C64 for the first time on original hardware and this was really helpful.

I remember that you could abbreviate the "LIST" command by typing "L" followed by the key "I", but together with the Shift key or something like that and then hit Enter.

Thanks for this. I would have never figured this out.
I used the Atari back in the early 80's and it is so much easier loading games on the Atari. Most you just put the disk in the drive and turn on the computer and it booted into your game. If you have a bunch of games on a disk, there various version of DOS, some work just like MS-DOS. You put the disk in and turn on the computer, it boots DOS. Type DIR and enter and it lists the files on the disk. Type in the name of the game and press enter. That's it.

Brilliant! Is there a way to keep going higher on the list output than the screen is currently displaying? For when your list is longer than one screen and you still want to use the cursor keys to go up so you can type "LOAD" etc. on the same line as the program file...

What could be wrong if multiple, original games say "File Not Found" after issuing that command.

Finally got me a disk drive for my C64. Apparently its defective. It starts off sounding pretty normal then it starts making a grinding sound similar to a holding spacebar on an electric typewriter. OF course it was an AS IS auction on ebay. It looked good from pictures its in the original box. When I open it up its missing two screws (from the front) and of course doesn't work. Tried several different programs and always same result. Grinding noise and file not found error.
