This game is the height of lead developers getting carried away with their own hype, still can't believe the way they talked about removing menus as the best innovation in history

My least favorite thing in this game is incredibly petty: your personal hero morphing weapon always ends up with a bunch of bone because a good chunk of the game has you fight a ton of hollow men, which forces the weapon to morph unless you ignore the main story for until you meet a much harder criteria. Crazy oversight.

While this game is heavily criticized by many (including myself). For some reason, this is the fable I have come back to and beat multiple times. I feel like the world design is the best its ever been, with many if the areas looking like they were ripped out of a storybook. It also has the best DLC in the series history with Traitors Keep being a real treat I look forward to every playthrough!

I was young when I played this so I don't remember if it was actually good but i remember thinking "this is what games are all about" at the time, it felt epic and open-ended in all the right ways. Back then I was sure that by now we'd perfect this formula and all games would be these vast open worlds with branching paths, different ways of playing, with a world that feels alive and evolving over time... Turns out that's ended up being way more difficult to do in games and therefore is still pretty rare...

I can totally see Molyneux having what he thought was an industry changing idea of 'No Menus', whilst all the time his entire staff is just barely managing to come into work day after day with 'Yes, peter - no menus :|'. It reeks of an idea he had that he decided scrutiny nor logic were allowed to be applied to lol.

fable 3 was one of the first RPG games i played when I was a kid, born in 01 I was a bit younger to catch fable 1 or 2 but I had memories of someone my parents knew letting me watch them play while their character looked clearly transformed into some half demon half human hybrid. I remember hearing that fable 3 did not have this but during the entire game I was in awe by the steam punk style of world setting. I don't know how old I was when I was playing this maybe 2012-14 but its definitely one of my favorite games from memory.

we'll see how fable 4 does years later. hopefully it is good

The menu system reminds me of the Dean in Community when he gets the 90's VR system. "JESUS WEPT!"

The main Fable series' development has always been plagued by Peter Molyneux's weird jealousy of Elder Scrolls. He specifically mentions Elder Scrolls in several old interviews. Every Fable game was supposed to be the "Morrowind Killer" or "Oblivion Killer". I think that's why every Fable game just had to have some weird gimmick. It's a damn shame, too, because I think he had a solid foundation with Fable 1. If he had actually built upon that instead of trying to reinvent the wheel each game, we would have never ended up with a game as sloppy as Fable 3.

For w/e reason, This was my favorite Fable. Loved the story of becoming king and defending your kingdom.

From what I can remember; this was actually my favourite Fable game for some reason. The biggest annoyance for me was the way DLC was handled for the game. I ended up with 7 XBox 360s due to the way my store handled the warranty; which was to replace the unit when it RROD and get a replacement from MicroSoft instead of us sending it in to get fixed. Every time I had to replace my console; I had to go through an extensive and ridiculous verification process to get DLCs to work for this game, Mass Effect 2, and I forgot the other 2.
Besides that, I played the hell out of this game as I really liked the story and gameplay compared to the previous Fable games. Logan remains one of the best written video game villains for me even to this day.

This has been happening a lot on youtube lately. I swear the youtube algorithm is sentient!

I was just watching a video about games that are still worth playing in 2024, and fable 1 was one of them. Even thought about buying it for pc too. Anyway, I start looking at fable 3 videos and think I should buy it and finish it, as i never did. AND NOW THIS VIDEO COMES OUT JUST A DAY LATER. CRAZY!!!

Fable 3 was wild. It's not as good as Fable 2 but I remember enjoying it for what it was. The intro was really good because it forced you into a big choice but stuff kind of just falls flat by the time you get to the kingdom ruling part of the game. You spend so long getting there and it's just so short. You make a few decisions and then the game just goes to the end game.

I remember this being the first free Xbox game with Gold. For a free game it was absolutely fantastic

I owned a legal copy of Fable 3 on PC (having very much enjoyed Fable: The Lost Chapters) and was never able to play it, because Micro$oft takes sadistic glee in plowing its customers. One of these days, I might go sailing on the Grand Line to see what booty I can find, perhaps a working copy of Fable 3.

This game should be brought back to Steam.

The simple fact it allows you to play as a king after becoming one makes it one of my favorite. By the way anyone knows other games like it?
