What you should know before you get your windows tinted

There are so many reasons to get your car's windows tinted, UV protection, reduced glare, heat reduction and general aesthetics just to name a few. Before you start calling around to other installers, here are a few things you should know.

It would be nice if they came out with removable tint so that you can take them out before you inspect your car and reinstall them afterwards.

it's best to get proper tints. Don't get cheap tints

1. Consider the area that you live in for tinting, for example, I live on a coastal rainforested climate that sees maybe 6 months of moderate sunshine a year, ceramic tinting would not make any difference hence it is not recommended.

2. Metallic tinting doesn't actually interfere with your cell phone signal in a way that you will notice.

3. Look for companies that have lifetime warranties on their workmanship, that almost guarantees you will have a quality job and not have to come back every 2-3 years.

And of course, as with some auto detailing/shops, they will likely try to upsale you on tinting you don't need (notice he pushes ceramic tinting? Well, it's the most expensive as well). Do your research and the more sincere questions the staff asks about what your needs are, the more likely they are at being honest people.

if you get pulled in nc, typically just having all windows rolled down and lights on BEFORE the officer is at your window eliminates any issues

Hell down in the scorching heat of Louisiana Tint does make a big difference in inside vehicle temps. plus interior doesn`t fade.

In NJ You cant fail inspection because of it and cops don't carry tint meters and someone sued to cops claiming it was an unjust stop so now everyone's car looks gangsta

I had my window tints done for $100 back in 2008 about 2 years ago they just started looking purple. They did a great job on the installation. Film is film.

Had Llumar ceramic tint installed on everything except my windshield in 2017. Paid about 300. Car is going back this week to have my rear windows retinted. It’s bubbling up all over the rear window. Good thing is it’s going back to the same shop who will redo it 5yrs later for FREE.

I can vouch for FormulaOne window tint being worth the extra cost. I bought my 2003 Turbo PT Cruiser GT new over 15 years ago and had FormulaOne tint installed at the darkest legal % for my state. I also had them tint my sun roof and put a 4” band across the top of the windshield which really added a cool look to my car and made it easy for this tall boy to drive into the sun with my eyes shaded…. My FormulaOne window tint has been installed for 15-1/2 years now and still looks as great as the day it was installed! With the sun roof tinted my black Cruiser stays nice and cool inside while I enjoy the view.  ** I also had a top-of-the-line ClearBra™ installed on the front of the hood and front fenders when I took delivery, later adding protection for the front bumper. The ClearBra has finally taken a hit from the sun and is in need of replacing, but the paint underneath is like the day I bought my car over 15 years ago. Spending money on the best tint & bra available is the best investment you can make in your new ride!  :)

i literally got my tints yesterday for $150 but these tints are from Mexico. had my last car done by them as well and it’s been 4 years and the tints still hold strong

I paid $80 for my front 2 windows and got LLumar tint I've had it for 3 years and its still perfect. Not sold on that comment about a $100 tinting quote being low quality haha

I just got ceramic tent on my wife’s smart car for two looks really nice and it has a lifetime warranty so yes definitely look into The warranty

Paid $160 for my tint at broadway auto glass in Merillville, IN. Life time replacement if it bubbles or fades. Receipt will stay in my glove box.😁
