What is an Ion? Why Atoms Lose Their Electrons?

preview_player
Показать описание
An atom has an equal number of protons (positive charge) and electrons (negative charge) making them neutral. When the atom loses or acquires more electrons, it causes the overall charge to be negative (anion) or positive (cation), now it is called as ion.

Awesome and easy explanation. I wasn’t able to understand this subject in class so I watched some videos. This video had the best explanation. Love it❤

Sometimes, YouTube videos have better explanations than of textbooks. This really is another type of education: through animated videos. BTW, your account image is really sensible (fr); youtube textbooks that move!

Hey! Great video. Very informative. Although, I have a question : When atoms are electrically Neutral as is, Why do they gain/lose electrons just to be stable. And by being charged are they not becoming unstable?

How do atoms " lose" electrons ?? If I lose something I look for it till I find it. Can't atoms also look for the electron they " lost"?
