Watch stuff and learn and chill hi whatsup ⚔️👋🧐

Hi everyone! I'm an American from the Northeast (New England). I want to create a watering hole for people who want to discuss, learn and teach about history through YouTube videos which you guys recommend to me through the comment section or over on Discord. Let's be respectful but, just as importantly, not be afraid to question any and everything about historical records in order to give us the most accurate representation of the history of our species and of our planet!

in WWII, Germany was actually not alone at all.

They had as allies not only Italy and Japan.
But - for a time - also the Sovjet Union.
Also Finland, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia.
And let's not forget France (!) was a German ally for most of the war. French troops were fighting the British (in North Africa and the Middle East) for much longer than they were fighting Germans.
Plus there were a lot of SS divisions staffed with volunteers from all over Europe. Fun fact: the very last divisions defending Berlin against the Sovjets were divisions of French (!) and Norwegian (!) volunteers: the SS Divisions Charlemagne and Nordland.

the southern german states fought with prussia against france from the start. So there was already this connection between north and south. The empire was proclaimed during the last days of the war

Yes, Wilhelm is William.
Welfare State, public schooling, a pension system, universal healthcare and other basic democratic entities were often created under dictatorship, Mussolini's for example. History can be mindblowing.

3:44 The united German Empire was declared during the war, albeit at the very end, in Paris, in the famous Hall of Mirrors of the Louvre. The ceremony was stagemanaged by Bismarck to use the foreseeable victory, it came 10 days after this, to use the popular sentiments in the German countries and the fact that numerous princes were military leaders of their contingents and thus were on hand, to bamboozle Wilhelm IV of prussia, who was NOT a fan, into accepting the crown.

Schleswig-Holstein is pronounced "Shles-vich Holl-shtine". The "g" at the end is pronounced like an aspirated "h" (kinda like the h in human, if you overdo it) or the ch in "ich". Depending on where they come from in Germany (mostly in the south), there are Germans who pronounce this "g" like a "k".

Not understanding the anti socialist bent. Is this just a stereotypical, American misunderstanding of the S word??

Please may I suggest that, when you wish to react to anything connected to Britain and Europe, you *never* under any circumstances use a silly, animated American channel. They frequently contain mistakes and are often simply peurile rubbish.
You have more chance of learning history by watching Timeline or People Profiles, than you do watching silly cartoons!

Wilhelm is the German equivalent of William.
Friedrich is Frederick.
Georg is George. And George in Spanish is "Jorge", which I find funny because it's pronounced very differently xD
