Notice how Bismarck said Russia and France are our most important ALLIES.

Meanwhile Germany in WW1 is fighting against both Russia and France. This just shows the diplomatic ineptitude of Germany between the turn of the 20th century till 1914 (start of WW1).

Tbf Bismarck was at fault for losing France as an ally and that was planned (you'll see why, no spoilers), but losing Russia was the Austrians' fault.

In the end WW1 was a family squabble, the British/German/Russian monarchs were related.

I always think ww2 was the war needed to show everyone to never have a war again. Europe was always at war, but that one was so destructive all of the nations decided to never let it happen again, thus they made the European Union
