New Human Ancestor Discovered: Homo naledi (EXCLUSIVE VIDEO) | National Geographic

Within a deep and narrow cave in South Africa, paleoanthropologist Lee Berger and his team found fossil remains belonging to the newest member of our human family. The Homo naledi discovery adds another exciting chapter to the human evolution story by introducing an ancestor that was primitive but shared physical characteristics with modern humans.
Because the cave system where the bones were located was extremely difficult to access, it could be speculated that these hominins practiced a behavior previously believed to be modern: that of deliberately disposing of their dead underground.

If you, a non-believer in science and evolution, actively go on this video and comment your opposition (save the "I have the right to do as I please" speeches) then you're an idiot. I don't go on videos related to the religious rite and spam their comment section with nonsense so do the Internet a favor and keep its conversational sections clean and idiot-free. It's attention seeking and annoying.

Stupid me, I actually had high hopes for a minute that I would be able to scroll the comments and be able to extract some more information about this discovery from other people who are just genuinely interested in the discovery of this itself and NOT interested in going off on yet another rant about creationism versus evolution and blah blah blah... Come on people, can't we ever just talk about the actual video itself without all this other arguing for

Shouldn't those fragments be handled with gloves ?...

I do believe in some higher power but evolution is fucking legit. If only people could just accept the idea that maybe their creator and everything science offers can both be responsible for life on earth.

Fascinating. Another piece of the puzzle in early hominid history discovered. The puzzle is slowly but surely coming together. A fantastic discovery.

Reilgion gets upset when proven wrong.
Science adapts when proven wrong.

Imagine how many skeletons were lying around 50-60 thousand years ago? I wonder what our ancestors thought of near-human skeletons?

Edit: missed a 0 😅

Awesome, how exciting for these folx, crawling their way inch by inch to new discoveries. I watched this on PBS and learned so much more. I feel sorry for those who still oppose science. How sad it must be to miss out on this adventure.

Watching them slide through those tiny slots to get to the fossils gave me stress.

My salute to them who have undertaken painstaking trouble in discovering this pieces of skeletons which are supposed to be proof of existence of human beings much before the time calculated by scientists. May God bless them and may the humanity does not forget them ever .

NatGeo: You need to add accurate closed captioning to this video so the hearing impaired community can have equal access to this exciting video! I wanted to share it with my students but cannot because of the lack of accurate captions.

I don't understand creationists. They ask for transitional fossils and there are already over half a dozen but they nonetheless ask for more, then we find this new one, which is essentially the 7th or 8th one now and they say "i don't believe it for a second." But why? It's not like we can manufacture bones, bones are very complicated things. We simply find them and piece them back together. In fact I'm piecing together a dead squirrel carcass that I found at work a few days ago. I'm going to show it to a group of kids. So I can't see why creationists won't just change their minds and say, "wow I asked for a transitional fossil and they found one. I have to rethink some things." Anyways,
How old is it?

This is amazing I watched the film on Netflix. For some reason I was moved to think these Hominoids thought of a life after death. It almost blew my mind!

The religious ignorance is _strong_ in this comments section.

So very, very strong.
