A Havening Guided Meditation to Reduce Stress and Build Resilience with Dr. Kate Truitt
Показать описание
This is a guided meditation for reducing stress and building resilience. Dr. Kate invites you to expand your gaze around your environment, and to notice the expansive landscape of the room you are in. She assures you that there is nothing in your surroundings to fear, and uses an analogy to describe this fear as “tigers laying in wait.”
Dr. Kate explains that this exercise is geared towards calming your Amygdala. Noticing peripheral details around us in the here and now allows us to step out of a narrow framework. (We are also hardwired to seek out difficult moments).
She then encourages you to notice all the different basic shapes in your environment, and trace them with your vision, clockwise and counterclockwise. Dr. Kate mentions that this is helpful because our Amygdala loves to know that our vision is free and unencumbered to take in details.
She then asks you to find an experience in your life where you felt connected to something or someone. Dr. Kate suggests that you move into a deeper relationship with this experience, hold it here with you, and notice its attributes. She invites you to notice if the energy of this experience has a message for you, and if there is no message arriving, she encourages you to choose your own. Then Dr. Kate suggests that you welcome in “What if?” statements, such as “What if I was connected?” and “What if I was calm?”
After completing this exercise, you will have built a new “neural freeway” that you can connect back to in the future, and deepen your relationship with it. The more we build one neural freeway, the weaker others become.
Take a look, and see what you can see today, we are glad you are joining us!
