i think Sean is probably the best instructor around. At least for my point of view, i am quite a beginner but the way he explains complex stuff is so direct. Not chit chat, but striaght to the point . I have checked hundreds of videos where they look at one single thing and go in depth for hours, result you fall asleep, get bored and you do not get what the hell you are learning it for. I like the way of going high level showing quickly what and why you do it, you grasp the concept, the blocks and you go in depth later. this approach is changing my comprehension so much. Good job.

I worked in Silicon Valley back in the DotCom days and it's really mind blowing just how crappy things can be under the hood. So many people that didn't have a clue what they were doing, it was amazing just how poorly things are run. What's funny is how personality plays such a big role, so much ego, so much game playing. The Steve Jobs quote is really awesome.

It’s so funny you played that clip with Jobs. I’ve been quoting that clip for years. Probably the wisest words I’ve ever heard! Thanks for great content 🙏🏻

Love it & can totally relate to it. I worked in the valley from 2012 to 2017. “Shitshow” is indeed a pretty description for how some of these startups worked. During my time there, I was fortunate enough to see a company go IPO and was also part of an acquisition. I’ve recently started my ios development journey (coming from a non-tech background) and really like your videos. Wish you luck on building your multi-million $ business/product👍

Absolutely true. I've been working as a scientist for most of my career and exactly the same effect. Wow, that looks so advanced and difficult. 10 years later doing it and thinking "meh, what was all that fuzz about...?". :) It's the growing bit that hurts a most usually and I guess in programming, the judgement phase of not so great colleagues and such. You have to built a bit of skin, staying respectful yourself and just try to find that job that feels right.

Sean I've been in this industry for decades, including Silicon Valley and Wall St. You've got a real gift for communicating ideas about software development, and the surrounding culture. Any plans to do some focused Q&A Zoom sessions? (Reasonable fee of course :-) )

As Steve Jobs says, To embrace life is starting something on your own not just following along, but we do not have this strong mentality over here in Europe. Also I am reading the book "Radical Candor" by Kim Scott and it is super interesting and also very relevant to the theme talking about the Silicon Valley culture . It also opens with a Steve Jobs quote 😀

Quite inspiring. Happened the same to me in the video game industry, it was a child’s dream... today I wonder how most companies even manage to make anything.

Didn't had in Silicon Valley once, but learned the same lesson when started working in IT. All the companies are built by human beings and we can figure out all of that as well.

Thanks! It gives me a little more confidence in applying out there. I thought silicon valley was the best of the best and super super competitive

This is always true. Doctors and lawyers have the same effect. I view it as a proximity effect. The more exposure you have to something the less impressive it seems. This works for elite colleges too but when your a student their or even live next door you can’t help but see them as drunk frat boys. At my school in the last couple years the world remembers certain people as the CEO of a very well funded EV startup or creator a an multimillion dollar acquisition by Apple but that’s not the first thought I have of them simply because of proximity.
