Now it is time to take a look at the immortal Stevie Ray Vaughan. He is by far my favorite blues guitarist of all time and is also one of the most highly requested artists here at GuitarLessons365. So without further adieu, I present to you "Pride And Joy".
I remember sitting at home as a teenager, on the couch playing my guitar when the news broke of his untimely death. I was a total rock head so I didn't really know of his playing but as they showed some concert footage of him playing during the newscast I was just floored. He didn't play the guitar, he attacked it. To the point that you almost felt sorry for the guitar. To this day I have never seen someone put so much passion into his music.

So in this lesson series we are gonna try to do justice to this classic tune. Before I get any emails, YES the full performance video is in the song's original tuning of Eb, however I teach the note-for-note lessons in standard tuning so anyone with a locking trem system can still learn the song the way he played it. Take your time piecing every part together, there is a lot of stuff to learn here, but it is a blast to play after you get it all together!! Cheers!!

I've been playing almost 50 yrs. This is the most guitar I have ever learned in this short period of time. This is what we should save the term AWESOME for. Thanks!

Great job man! No "I'm sooo much better than you, guitar guru" vibe here! Just plain, simple to follow "easy-speak".
Thanks for the time and effort that you put into each and every lesson that you post. You're one of my faves!
Keep the faith, keep fighting the good fight, and KEEP ON-A-RICKIN' !!!
God bless and take care...

I almost always come to your lessons if I want to learn something proper. Raines for Skynyrd but I've learned alot from you. I'm 65 and have been working on fingerpicking acoustic for a couple years. Havent played electric for a while. Been trying to slowly learn some theory and this particular song may help me get some of it together. As others have said, thank you for all the time and effort to help others. You can never get the time back. Peace and may God bless you.

You are the best teacher on YouTube, period. Your patience ( and being so meticulous ) is always appreciated! You made me a much better guitarist. Thank you!

Of course my biggest problem here is getting that shuffle rhythm to sound right. I can do all the riffs and lead parts just fine, it's only that damn rhythm thats getting me.

A challenge for a mid-level guitarist, but i love rocking out to this song. The more challenging, the faster we improve ;) Thanks Stevie and Carl!!

Watching in 2022 and this is the best lesson on the web for this song.

One thing I noticed was that, if I'm not mistaken, SRV plays the open A twice before the first fret on the very final lick. 0012 on A to finish the intro. Awesome video! I am extremely grateful for everything you have taught us

Great lesson as usual! Thanks for leaving tuning alone. It takes so much time to retune and tune again with a Floyd Rose just for learning purposes.

Glad to see a lesson in standard tuning, , which is what i am usually in.I think the distortion could be a bit less, makes it easier to hear what is going on.Great lesson!

Thank you for teaching in standard tuning. I play classical gas, jobim etc and then switch to blues or pop. Can only travel with one guitar. Can't be doing major re-tuning between songs.

You should put up the tabs as you explain on the last part, and play it all in sequence.
