My daughters cat was snoozing on the ottoman at my feet across the room (15’) a palmetto bug darted from behind the tv stand. Cat went from laying to in the air in one motion leaped all the way across the room and pinned the bug in its claws! Wacked it around a few times then killed it with his teeth, dropped it and got back on the ottoman and snoozed! What a deadly weapon!!

Since you asked - sure, I bought and played with cats-eyes marbles, and they were highly prized by most players. As for real cat's eyes, what gets me about dilation and contraction is the speed. In a completely dark room, turn on the lights, and by the time I can look at the cats face, pupils are already adjusted. It often seems to me that cats react seemlessly to us turning lights on & off, often they seem oblivous that its happened.

I have a cat who has large round pupils most of the time. I strike it up to "kitten behavior" even though he is aproaching 9 years.

My cat is always inside so I don’t see a lot of changes with his pupils. But it’s really neat how good cats are at hunting and how amazing their eyes are.

My wife and I have three "indoor only" cats. Their pupils are almond shaped most of the time. Both my wife and I collected a few "cat's eye" marbles as children.

I did look for those marbles as well and that would explain why Ziva is so easily able to attack me when she feels like taking that type of play when I am walking by not expecting it heading to get a drink at night as if to say hey get back in bed where you belong so I can get warm again

My cat’s eyes are usually much more dilated than these, Sometimes I barely even see the color, but I guess I don’t like bright lights.

I have seen them focus in on bugs though. I can usually tell a difference in personality too.

My kitty usually has larger pupils since she's an indoor cat. However sometimes if she's been sitting in the window looking outside, once she emerges from her perch she'll have barely-visible slit pupils. She looks adorable either way

Our cats are all indoor. We have 3 older kittens, 2 from the same litter, so I see the eyes change when they're playing with each other.
