For anyone else who is bad at mornings: I’ve started keeping a wand toy (with a long collapsible wand) in my night stand so they can get their pre-breakfast “hunt” in without me having to get out of bed yet lol

Thank you for not insisting that we break the bank with expensive wet foods. The thought that we can buy affordable wet foods, which are still better than kibble, is encouraging to me (and my 7 cats)!

I adopted my cat two days ago - he was used to dry food. I gave him wet food the first day and he was so happy and loves me more now.

I started playing with my two cats before feeding them & I'm AMAZED at the changes they're exhibiting. The super shy kitty is so much more confident & the big bully is so much more calm. All three of us look forward to our twice daily Hunt times!! ❤️ 🙏 ❤️

I started watching your videos this summer and switched my cats to a wet food diet this fall. I’ve also implemented playtime before every meal and thank GOD stopped free feeding. I’ve never seen my boys happier or healthier! Their fur is so soft and shiny and they’re a lot more energetic than they used to be

Thank you so much for defying the myth about feeding kitties the same thing all the time! When I first adopted my senior, people criticized me for giving her a bunch of different wet food options to find what she liked, and then rotated between her favorites. I made a game of it, would put several flavors out for her, and she would pick the one she wanted for that meal. People said it was dangerous for me to give her different foods! I made sure to OK my approach with the vet, so was not being negligent. Who wants to eat the same thing all the time? Not me or my kitties!

Thus week I started transitioning my cat to raw food, at first he didn’t want much of it (I’ve been adding raw food the past six months), I started giving him less and less kibble and stopped free feeding. He’s eating more and more of the raw now 🐾🐾🤗

Thanks for this! My daughter keeps asking how I am learning so much about my cat (new cat in Mar 2020) and when I told her that I've sort of adopted this channel as a jumping off place, she sat down and binged a dozen videos. She doesn't even have a cat (she has a dog at present and a small apartment). So, once again, thanks for doing all the legwork for us!

The transition to wet food is going well. They are still begging me for the dry kibble, but I have not given in. They are eating 3 meals a day, and actually eating! We have "play time" before the evening meal as always and they so look forward to it (as do I). Thank you so much for the information which helped me to make the decision to pull that bowl of free feeding kibble. It was easier for me as my cats always ate both dry and wet foods.

My vet said that she learned it back in uni but she didn't want to kid me and pretend she was good at it, it was too long ago and she doesn't deal with nutrition every day. I respected her more when she said it, I appreciate it when people dare to say "not my field of competence". It's better than chiming out simplified or general advise or outright wrong advise. She referred me to a vet who specializes in nutrition.

Thank you so much for sharing all this information with us! I love my cats so much and I just want the best for them. Because of your videos me and my mom have decided to switch our cats from dry to wet food. I had no idea how bad dry food was for them, but I’m excited to make this change that’ll be better for their health in the long run.

Hey Jackson, thanks for the good info (once again)! One of our cats was switched to a wet food diet recently because of diabetes (in fact, switching food reversed her diabetic symptoms). Your comment about cats eating warm fresh food in the wild was a light bulb moment for me. I started serving the wet food with a couple of tablespoons of hot tap water poured on top, and it was surprising to see how eagerly the cat lapped it up. It really increases the aroma (or stink, if you hate the smell of wet food), and I'm sure the extra moisture is good for her, too.

Petting them while trying to introduce them to new foods seems to work great too! Our cat now eats raw food and loves it. We also used a combination of these techniques to get him to transition. Great advice!

Thank you Jackson! You’ve been such a huge help since I adopted my kitten in August, with no prior experience with cats. I started her on a half dry/half wet diet but she would throw up the wet food every morning, so I switched to a fancy shmancy organic dry food. I really want to switch her to wet food but each time I’ve introduced it, she’s picky and throws up. This really helped!!!

I would love it if you would address this with multiple cats, like 3+ and tips and tricks about feeding multiple cats.

I have a new kitten and during a vaccination appointment I brought up transitioning the cat to a raw diet when he was a bit older. They were not at all in favour of this saying that commercial wet food contained all the nutrients they needed. It’s all a bit confusing to me, but I have not allowed him any dry food. Will endeavour to mix it up for Maximilian with combination of wet food and raw. I lost my last cat to kidney disease and don’t wish to repeat this heartache again.

While I appreciate that removal of grazing may ease transition from one type of food to another, I think it's also important to gradually transition from grazing to meals only. Also (my personal opinion), once the cat has successfully transitioned food types, reintroducing a source of additional food for grazing should be done. (In my experience, a cat will eat the food it enjoys and ignore other food sources, **unless** for some reason the cat becomes extra hungry between meals. Also, having the security of knowing a food source is **always** available frees a cat - or a person, or any creature - to shift energy normally devoted to thinking about food toward some other, hopefully more beneficial, endeavor.)

You are the BEST. Thank you for this series of videos, Jackson. I've got outdoor three ferals I brought from LA to Texas (with much help from the good folks at FixNation) and I have 3 other rescue kitties inside. I'm having to train my family about the cat food before I even start on the cats, but we are making progress. I really appreciate your channel. Thank you so much for helping me understand and care for my sweet kitties.
