VW/Volkswagen Reliability. Is VW reliable and expensive to maintain, own and repair?

It has been three years that I have owned my 2013 VW Tiguan and it has been 4 years that I have owned my 2013 VW Beetle Turbo. Some of you asked me for an updated video, I am going to update you with the car reliability.

Wife really likes her Taos. So far so good at 11k miles. Only time will tell if it’s reliable

EJ, thank you for sharing, I do have the 72K miles/72 month warranty. For my 2018 Beetle coupe, 2019 Beetle Convertible and 2019 Tiguan SE 4Motion. I use premium gas and our VW dealer uses Castrol Edge with my pre paid maintenance. End of 2020 I do intend to get a used Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia.

Liqui Molly = God tier

I got the ATF 1800 from Liqui Molly and my Golf 1.8T runs so much smoother with ~2 liters of fresh oil in my transmission. Just drained out about 2L, put back the same amount

I’m so grateful I found your channel. I’m co side ring buying a VW EoS 2008 automatic transmission 91k miles. Any thoughts on that model (reliability? Maintenance costs?) Thanks for any reply

This doesn't address whether a person should purchase a VW if they have a limited budget or if they need a second car.
The question is, will a VW be reliable after 100k miles or after the 3rd owner?
I love VWs, but sadly they don't hold up after significant use. They need consistent maintenance. And that's something you don't get from a lot of owners. Especially the 10k mile oil change interval that leased cars get. I advise non-car people (who can't do their own maintenance) to stay away from anything German, unless it has low miles.

Hi and Merry Christmas! I heard you mention that you spent money on fuel injector cleaner. Isn't the engine in the beetle direct injection?

EJ, now you are getting me worried because our 2013 Tiguan has 52, 000 miles. We did have to replace the rear engine seal and gas door electric lock. We also have an extended warranty and they paid for the rear seal. I changed the gas door lock myself.

How many miles do you now have on your VW Tiguan and Beetle. Thanks for another great video.

I have owned two VW's MK3 and MK6. Dont buy them. Buy a Toyota. I love VW. But its no true. The maintenance is super expensive. Specifically TSI motor. Intake Manifold replacement, ignition coils, plugs, water pump, head gasket.
