slight correction, the water pump is not electrically driven, at least not the primary. The primary water pump is on the driver side, driven off of the exhaust camshaft with a toothed belt. There is a secondary electric pump at the front of the engine under the charge air cooler, the purpose of that pump is to circulate the coolant through the charge air cooler, as well as turbo. It's a separate loop, albeit connected to the primary. The electric pump allows for coolant flow through the turbo after shutdown as well as tigher control over intake air temp.

Just drove it today after driving a gli. I was actually pretty impressed with the power and sound in sport mode. Was it the gli? No..but i liked it a lot.

Head gasket failures are being reported on the VW Taos that has this same engine.
Gives me pause about buying one now🤷🏻‍♂️

Aluminum is a departure from the thin cast iron block of the recent past. Could this be the reason for head gasket failures? Haven't heard of head gasket failures on VW engines until now.

Would you happen to know if the 2024 Sport has the same exhaust pipe diameter as its SE & S counterparts? Any help would be appreciated! I want to make sure exhaust kits are compatible for my Sport model. Thank you.

Avoid 2020-2022 automobiles regardless of make. They were made during the era of the pandemic and supply chain issues - which affected the quality of parts.

Very informative. Thank you, sir. I am planning on getting a new Jetta, and if like to ask you a question if you don't mind: how's this engine's quality in relation to the older 1.4L turbo in the 2019 re-design?

Mainly, I'm wondering if the new engine handles carbon build up from the inclusion of a turbo charger better. From what I've read, it appears that a series of short drives that don't allow the engine oil to get to its needed 220-60 degree Fahrenheit temperature can exacerbate this problem? My job is a short 10 minutes away, so I'd fall into that regular trip category that would allow the after 15 minutes of driving needed to get the oil up to optimal operating temperature.

Thanks again!

I am moving from TN to MN in a month and I have a 2023 Jetta. Does it have an engine block heater already installed? If so, where do you plug it in? If not, can you help me determine what kind of engine block heater to purchase and where to install it?

I wonder if it has that management cylinder systems where it runs on two cylinders sometimes.

Has anyone found aftermarket intake for this 1.5t? Has anyone filled up with 93 octane and notice a difference?

Is it the same engine as the european version?

I doubt you'll get 125-150K miles on this.

I have a 2020 Jetta R . Mine has a belt timing belt. Does the 1.5T have a belt or metal timing belt? p.s. I love my car but considering trading when the warranty is up.
