I made this video to hopefully help anyone looking to purchase a Volkswagen Tiguan. I am not sponsored in any way and this is my honest opinion about this vehicle.

5+ years/60k Miles using it. Bought a new 2019 model and no issues so far. Regular Oil changes and had to replace tires, battery, and AC filter those are normal wire and tire.

Thanks for the review. You're the first reviewer I've watched who has used ECO mode and it seems that it is worth using for relaxed trips to get those higher mpg values. A few bits of information. The SEL version (2023 on?) has both a foot kick function to open and close the rear hatch, 3 memory buttons for the power front seat, and the towing capacity is 1500 lbs. The newer models also have wireless (and USB) connection Auto Play to allow for either Apple or Android Auto. Getting Text messages is a function of the cellphone not the car's Infotainment system. Check your cellphone/Auto Play app settings to allow for Text messaging and it should work including reading you your text messages, etc. Thanks. It's a beautiful car. Love the red exterior pain job.

We got one a 2018 SE 4Motion 86, 000 miles. Works well no issues, just followed the standard or recommended maintenance schedule from the book. 4 motion system works quite well in the rain and snow with decent tires.

I still have a 2018 Tig Comfortline with 3rd row seating (never used) with only 52K on the odometer (32, 000 miles). No issues (knock on wood) other than the sat radio antenna has failed. The workaround on that is to use the Sirius app and use bluetooth audio. One thing I'm still impressed with, and perhaps it's due to using only Liqui Moly for twice a year oil changes, is that at 130km/h, the fuel consumption is only 7l per 100k. Wow. Which reminds me....I have a 2nd Haldex service coming up.

I have been an user of Tiguan since 2011. I agree with all the good things you mentioned. I believe the foot kick feature is available as an addon option. I had it in my 2018 Tiguan (Highline with addon safety options). I now having a 2021 United Version (probably available in Canada only). I missed the power folding side mirrors in my old one. Just keep up the maintenance and use Top-tier gas.

I had a 2018, 2020, and now the 2023 Tiguan, and find they got better with each gen. A tad poky is my only complaint (although felt improved between gens I owned), does get great gas mileage, so a trade off there. I think they need to offer a Tiguan R with more HP.

I have a 2022 Tiguan Trendline, but my two prior cars were a 2022 Comfortline Taos and a 2018 Comfortline Golf, both had wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Those two could receive texts, Suri can read them out to you, which is weird but kinda cool.

My 2022 Trendline I think probably has the same 7” screen with wired Apple CarPlay, but the Bluetooth should work for your phone, which you mentioned, but your phone’s tunes should be able to be Bluetoothed.

I own a 2020 Tiguan Sel Premium R-line (it has the foot feature for the back) and a 2014 Jetta. After 2 years with the Tiguan, so far so good 👍 I really wish VW would bring the Toureg back to North America ☹️

Got into a bad car wreck almost three weeks ago and this 1990's GMC Savanna van ran a red light totaling my Passport. I just bought this 2020 VW Tiguan SEL today, with 40, 100 miles and I pray this lasts me for awhile. The dealerships were ridiculous on pricing whether new or used so I bought mine at Volkswagen.

My 21’ the oil air separator went out. In that configuration is a vent valve. All that excess pressure had no where to bleed off to so all that pressure went right back into the crankcase. I’m still not sure what entirely caused it but it happened roughly after a tank or two while running a fuel treatment system. Be weary man! These engines are incredible and practically clean themselves. Just keep good oil in it and keep up with your maintenance. I’ve roughly 73k miles or 117km. Only thing I do recommend is the liqui moly engine flush that you put in the oil. Once again I want to reiterate how picky these engines are.

In the infotainment you can set 3 drivers for custom settings, seat, air and driving mode too and music

This vehicle is amazing on fuel economy. If you keep it at 65mph you will settle right around 34mpg on average. Just keep an eye on timing chain tensioner inspection since as much as we like this car, it still has an interference engine, and timing is crucial with those engines.

I have a 2016 Golf Sportwagen, and I installed a wireless phone adapter for CarPlay. Works the same as if you plug it in. Texts pop up and you can respond via voice.

The infotainment system has Apple car play and Android auto so you can get texts and maps via that connection.

Torque is 221 ft/lbs or 300 nm

Thanks for the review. Currently decided between a 2024 forester or Tiguan…

My 2022 SE Tiguan with 34k miles still gets me 32-34 MPG on highway. In City I am around 25-28 MPG.

Actually towing is only 1500 but if you don’t run it hard it can go a little over surprising you don’t have issues due to excess weight

I have a 2019 R-line, and if my android is connected via Bluetooth, it reads my texts, but that is a setting in the phone, I've got it set to read messages aloud when connected to Bluetooth.
It also reads them when olugged in and there it gives me the chance to reply.
Cheers!
