An easy way to remember complentary colors without having to relay in the arbitrariness of the color wheel is knowing that complementary colors are always:
•One Primary color (Red/Blue/Yellow) and One Secundary color (Orange/Purple/Green).
•The Complementary color is the Primary Color that dosn't makes the Secundary Color.

Example: Orange is Yellow + Red, then the complementary is Blue. Purple is Red + Blue, then the complementary is Yellow.
And in the other way around you just have to think in what secundary color you can't make with your primary color.
Example: With Red you can make Orange (Yellow + Red) and Purple (Blue + Red), so the complementary is Green (Blue + Yellow)
