The beautiful thing about most Batman villains is that they are the result of a maniac that was created when losing someone or just getting bullied or whatever, Batman takes these villains down because he was in their position but he had the willpower and strength to not turn completely insane

scarecrow had a huge amount of phobias as a child and was bullied for it. he would be tormented constantly by nightmares and fear, id say hes broken

Finally one of these "Broken or Pure Evil" videos that gets the Joker right. He IS both. He does terrible things for fun and destoys lives while getting enjoyment from it but he's also so psychologically tortured it's barely ever him actually making the decisions. He's a Broken man trapped in Pure Evil that he won't escape.
