Its never about speed its about getting it right

You get real good at when you have to redo the cable four or five times. 😮

Get the crimper with the cutting blade for the pass-though connectors, works much better than the scissors.

This makes me feel a lot better about how long it takes me to terminate cables and punch down connectors.

It took me around 4 hours for 2 cables.

Some say it: Better not to fast but right then to do it again.
However, too slow.

I'll have to time myself and see 🤔 I do make a lot of cables but I don't make them every day.

If I really push for it, I could probably do a single connector under 1 minute. Perhaps not CAT6 with the separator, but close.

Then again I use just 2 tools and my hands. A crimping tool with a stripper included. Just strip the mantle off, cut down any rope. Pull/stretch the separate and then cut off the thin remaining bit with a cutter.

Now lay down the 4 pairs in a cross. Start with the orange pair and untwist them. Straighten them when you lay them up to be pin 1 and 2. Then the green one, make it 3 + 6. The blue one goes in between. Finally the brown pair. Just make sure all is nice and parallel. Straighten it. Cut the excess and leave about 75mm or 1/4 inch. Put it in the connector. If it’s not pass through make sure everything is flush against the plastic, or at least well past the copper blades. If it’s pass through, make sure all wires barely pass through, so you won’t even have to cut them. Final check if all is well, crimp and you’re golden.

Great job, faster than me. I always use the connectors with pass-through wires.

I had a project one time that the customer wanted custom made patch cables so the dress-in would be neat…i could terminate and test 10 patch cables in 1 hour…what else to do while 500mi from home sitting in a hotel room. It was clocked overtime anyway.

For home DIY I think five minutes is really good. Myself I’m probably 5 to 10 minutes and figure one out of six or so connections will probably fail on the first test so give me another time penalty for that. But I do enjoy cutting and patching my own cables, even if I’m not very good at it.

Granted, when I was learning cabling, we were doing CAT5 without the cooler, but including measuring out the cable, I could do five minutes, easy. And that was without the special stripper and was literally using a box cutter.

No matter how hard I try stupid wires keep jumping to the wrong slot at least 3 times 😡

It's my least favorite part of installing networks, probably takes me about 5 minutes

There is a cable crimping competition in Indonesia 😂

Oh! I need 3 cables at home. They are expensive the ones I have connected to my routers are broken. I hope in the future they invent something stronger! Keep making more nice videos making cables and the ones ready send to me please !❤😂😂😂

Where do I upload my response video haha. I can do a cable in a bit under a minute per side last I checked but it has been a while

Pass-through connectors do not count, why miss all the fun!?!

Both ends of a ~12" cable? Probably between 2-3 minutes.
