I’ve been to Las Vegas 25 times since 2019. All of these comments I understand, I’ve asked 50 people or more when did you come to Vegas and do you like it here! Everyone said 48 -2 you will love it here. I like to remind people who do not like Vegas in the comments! I’ve lived in the east coast my whole life and nothing compares to the depression that living in 7 months of rain and snow and rude people! I’m going to retire and live out what time I have left in Las Vegas ! Sun fun and winning football! I will get a low stress job and work just as hard as I worked for a company for thirty five years who could care less about giving people a decent wage or raise. I love a place like Las Vegas because the competition even if it’s just a hamburger excites me. The garbage we have to eat in my town for the last thirty five. Years is gross! Las Vegas rules

I was born and raised here so I don't really have anything to compare to Las Vegas. My girlfriend moved here from California about ten years ago and we have talked about moving somewhere else, but why? You can probably make a video about 10 things that suck about any city. We know LV and its problems so you just deal with it.
We don't have a lot of money but there is always something fun to do that doesn't cost money. And that's the thing. We don't gamble so we don't go into casinos except to eat. And if you know where to look, you can eat well for little money. Can't do that in a lot of other cities. We like to hike in the desert. Since my knee surgery three years ago, we have made it a point to hike every square inch of the desert. When my orthopedic surgeon said I will probably always walk with a limp, I said "bet me". And I walk perfectly fine thanks to all our desert hikes.
But here's the thing, the only thing I don't like right now is all the gang bangers moving here from Los Angeles. Why are they moving here? You already ruined LA, why come f up my city. You know?

Vegas local of 44 years, though I'd give my 2 cents.
1st off everything he said is truthful, I do actually have tree's and a lawn. Currently switching the lawn out to (dwarf carpet of stars) and a 9ft deep pool. (just got my latest water bill of $680).
I remember being shocked when I went away to school in DC and realized gardiners didn't plant all those trees and plants.

Something that he didn't touch on is that Vegas is NOT a place to move to if you have a...
Drinking
Drugging
Sex
or Gambling ADDICTION.
living in Vegas is completely different from that weekend trip you took to Vegas and then decided to move here!

The heat?
it is not so bad. Live in Phoenix or Laughlin and you will know what heat is.
The lack of humidity makes a huge difference too. I prefer Vegas summers to Kansas City summers.
The two things to watch for are the fact that your car will get VERY hot if left in the sun. Also, heat exhaustion can really catch you off guard. During the hot part of the day, you should just stay inside or drive.

Las Vegas is a great place to retire. NO STATE TAX, Low cost of living, great house prices compared to neighboring states. Get a brand new energy efficient house really cheap. (Red-Purple = lower taxes) and centrally located to great destinations, Mount Charleston hiking and Lake Mead boating plus a large and efficient airport nearby. Great place.

I am surprised that you did not mention the horrendous homeless issue. Granted, the vast majority are out of site and living in the tunnels underneath the strip. But it can be very, very dangerous hanging out around the entrance/exits to these tunnels.

BEEN HERE DONE THAT...I am from Arkansas ...Here since 1971 ...Real Estate Agent ...Craps Dealer ...Entrepreneur
MY TAKE starts where yours leaves off ...COMFORT
after the last 10 years of Global Politics leveling every industry ...I now understand HOME (sweat home)
...my version is WORK vs. NON-WORK (ethic) ...something for nothing brings many people to "The Entertainment Capital of the World"
...The tourists pay rent at home and come hear with 'Capital' to 'Invest' in anticipation of winning
Smiling faces everywhere ...The best in life around every corner "Where you from" ...have some 'half-off' show tickets ...
ACTION is the key ...never knowing where the rabbit will pop up next
...The rest of the world is a GRIND ...living hand to mouth ...waiting for vacation to LAS VEGAS and the stories to be told at home
The trick is to sacrifice your boredom and give yourself some comfort for a while

I've lived in Las Vegas since 2001 and don't see a lot of negatives about living here. I work in a casino and am finalizing the purchase of a condo which I never thought would be possible. Las Vegas isn't worse than a lot of other places to live in.

I think you were honest and did a good job. I have a friend who lives in Las Vegas so I frequently check the 7 day forecast. You were saying only a couple of months were bad. Maybe you feel if it dips below 105 or 100 it's OK. Most any place else that is a heat wave. I live in Portland Oregon and I couldn't deal with the extreme temperatures in Las Vegas. The eventual lack of water to provide even the minimum needs of all the people living in LV is near.
My friend was forced to sell his Waikiki condo. He moved to Vancouver Washington to be near his daughter and grandson but he couldn't take the rain and cold weather. He had a rental in LV so he remodeled it and moved in. He has a really nice place and likes the sunny days. I have visited him when the intense heat has ended and it is really nice.
I am comfortably retired and enjoy the seasons, green, and the variety of nature here. If I want sunshine in the winter I will take a get on a jet and vacation.

I thought “no grass, no trees” were a good thing. Coming from the midwest where everyone had huge yards, mowing the lawns was the worst, especially under the summer sun. I love that when buying a house here, I don’t have to worry about even owning a lawn mower.

As an former Uber driver in Vegas, I can attest to the car insurance prices being high. Saw 3 accidents a day as a driver! There's also 1000 body shops in Vegas area for a reason!! It's a war zone on or near the strip, and you will be involved in an accident at one point. Too many hazards, tourists, and distractions not to be! - thus the high insurance premiums

Vegas is a trap. I fell for the hype years ago when they were advertising it as the fastest growing city with lots of jobs. Reality is that they had lots of very low paying jobs. Like being in a toaster in summer, not a lot to do if you don't gamble, and a general feeling of desperation and unfriendliness. I hated it and left after 9 months. Some are not so luck and end up homeless living in the underground sewer system.

I’ve been here for 6 yrs and a lot of what he says is true. Never been to a place where friends are hard to make. Traffic is getting worse. Never get used to the heat. Drunk drivers, red light runners, speeding and opposite driving on HIGHWAYS.

Las Vegas the "NO sense of community" of any city in the US. One of the unhappiest group of citizens of anyplace I have ever been. There is this total sense of loneliness living there. Most people that move there don't get it at first...but why do so many people that move there move away within 3years???

I moved to las Vegas March 2023 from California. I got so so sick from pollen nose bleeding too not stop. Weather is so bad that I can't even take my dog out for walks. I can't even walk my self from the heat. I already sold my Condo and moving back to Cali.

As someone who sweat a lot living in a tropical country, I fell inlove with Las Vegas's dryness! I've actually visited it in August so it was pretty hot but since my body sweats a lot, it's able to make use of that feature very well because the more i sweat, the more it evaporates and it cools me down. I guess my body meant for deserts. I see a lot of tourists covering their faces because it burns but I didn't have problems with it at all. But yeah I'm not desert proof. Just desert resistant.

Wow! You did a super job of naming all the drawbacks of living in Las Vegas. We have been here since 2013 and everything you said was 100% correct! The one about the service people was something I can't get over. I wanted and sidewalk and stairs put in with about a $400.00 budget and I had to beg to get people to come and give me quotes! I have run into this over and over!

In the 50's and 60's Vegas was a place where people with asthma could come and be able to breathe, but with all the construction over the last 50 years, people move here who never had asthma, develop it. . .also, last year, Spring Valley had a mountain lion roaming about, as well as foxes. . .the critter list is definitely a long one (not to mention all the feathered rats - pigeons). . .another thing about insurance here, it also depends on your zip code. . .Another major problem is that so many Californians are moving here because that State has gotten so bad, the biggest problem with that is they are bringing their politics with them, seems they forgot who is responsible for the problems they were having in California.
