Steely Dan - Do It Again (Extended by DJDiscoCat)

Amid the booming rock scene of the 1970s, in which anything seemed possible, Steely Dan made music that will last. That doesn’t make them unique, but it is a tribute to the enormous care and effort Becker and Fagen put into constructing the nine studio albums they made together under that name between 1972 and 2003. Their clever words, clever time-signatures and clever chords were the product of two enthusiasts dissatisfied with anything but the cleverest music they could possibly produce.

And so, very unusually in their chosen field, their wild imaginations were matched by their obsessively exigent craftsmanship. They were also some kind of weird cats. They were lucky to have their partnership, and so were we.

Ran away from home in 1972 and was picked up hitchhiking on the NJ Turnpike by some stoned hippies with this song blasting on a Craig 8 Track....It was one of those life-moments that changes you. Thank you, SD!

When the new generation is growing, listen to electronic like me grew up listening to the "real music" 🙏🏼 60s, 70s & 80s and the beginning of 90s were the Golden age of fine music 🥰

It's 1973, and the living room is a shade of mustard, orange, brown and black. Do you remember, so a child is sitting in the living room crying silently into a book as this song was playing. I was 5 years old, and at 56, I still cry silently to the beauty of this song.🎉🎉🎉❤

Over 50 years back & it still sounds as fresh and progressive as it did back in the day--thank you for sharing with all of us!

I'm 72 now and still have the Can't Buy A Thrill album I got in 71-72. As I've always said.... it's not a question of what's old or new.... it's what's good or bad. Great mix here.

The spring of 10th-grade... skipping gym class... smoking black hash in the back seat of my buddy's Dodge Polara... driving 75mph over the Williston Hills. Those were the days!!! It's a miracle that we're all still alive;)

I must comment. I must. Have enjoyed Steely Dan for nearly six decades! Never tire of listening to the genius of Fagan and Becker, and their ever changing ensemble. Musical story tellers extraordinaire. Regardless of enjoying many other types of music and musicians from classical, standards, southern rock, delta blues, Segovia to Satriani, SD thrills me. I listen and sometimes I laugh, or cry. They move me.
