I had my nails popping off after a week and a half no matter what I did. I switched to an ACID primer instead of acid-free and my nails were on 5 weeks before I filled them, still no lifting!

And the reason MY gel nails always want to loosen at the base despite meticulous prep : I am a moron who always forgets to put on rubber gloves before washing stuff, and I'm washing stuff a dozen times a day /at least/. Okay sometimes it's bc I forgot, but usually it's just laziness. Keep your hands dry as much as possible! Water swells and softens the nail plate, which makes it much easier for gels to lose their grip. My nails stay on SO much longer when I limit their water exposure to normal handwashing and showers and force myself to put on gloves when doing dishes, cleaning, washing paint brushes and bowls etc.

This just blew my mind. I was ALWAYS taught to use alcohol on the buffed nail before we put anything on🤯🤯🤯🤯. I just went & looked & you are 100% right. Unless you’re using 100% isopropyl alcohol(which is medical grade) you’re using alcohol with inactive ingredients in the bottle.

Fake nails are something I usually do not do but this is why I wanted acrylic. Many nail salons have stopped acrylics, too - at least in my neighborhood.
