How To Make $7 Press-On Nails Last Over a Month

I discovered press-ons when I was sick of my nail polishing chipping and looking for something more durable. I didn't try them for the longest time because I thought they were a joke. The Impress Nails box says they last for 2 weeks but I regularly get 4+ weeks of wear with just a few steps.

I love press-ons, they are so much healthier than any other nail enhancements like gel, dip or acrylic. However, as a nail tech, I don’t recommend pushing anything under your cuticles. Any nail treatment or service should never be painful, even if just for a day. If you push too far or knick yourself without realizing, you’re leaving that area exposed, with the dirt that will inevitably stick to the press on tape, there’s a potential risk of infection. Just my humble opinion, great video otherwise.

Love how I'm learning more in the comment section than I am in the video 😅 thank you to those who took time in sharing your knowledge 💕

I somehow came across this video and I have to say "OUCH!!!! NO WAY!!!. Having been a nail tech for 25+ years, I have to say that shoving the fake nail under the cuticle line is a really bad idea. It hurts and is uncomfortable for a reason! The matrix of your nail is under there, you can see the edge of it as the half moon on your nail. If you damage that, you've damaged your nail for life. I can not recommend what she's doing in this video. I see many comments below about how using glue makes them just pop off fast, which is true. If you want a press on nail to last, use builder gel, poly gel or even a soak off gel to attach them to your nails. Clear, full cover tips (they have to be clear or close to it or the gel to cure) are all over out there and you can use those and just decorate them yourself. You can also fill them in as they grow out instead of shoving them up to your first knuckle and being in pain for a week. There are a ton of DIY Apres' dupe nails showing how to do this and yes, you might have to buy a small LED lamp but they aren't that expensive any more if you pick on up on E-Bay or Aliexpress, you can actually get everything that you'd need to use. This video, especially the shoving the nail under the cuticle edge is totally wrong. Some of you may disagree and that's fine, they are your nails, do with them what you please but honestly, shoving a plastic nail under and into your nail matrix is not good. That's why it hurts.

Press ons are the best! Back in the day they sucked and looked so fake. They have come a long way and much improved. After a year of trial and error, this video confirms what I finally figured out. At first, I tried super glue to keep them on, after a few sets, it destroyed my nail bed and cuticles. But I wasn’t going give up just yet. I took my time and did these steps last week and so far so good just with the stickers🤞🏼 I get a lot of compliments on my nails, because they look salon quality. I’m able to keep them fresh looking every 2-3wks. Love that I can change it up at home or even traveling …pretty much anywhere anytime at my own convenience. I’ve even put a new set in my car right before an event 😅 Thank you for your video.

Besides the way she pushed the fake nails under her cuticle, you also shouldn't put fake nails on right after taking a shower. Your nail plate absorbs a lot of water, and should be given a chance to evaporate out the water before covering it in plastic.

Easy way to avoid waiting 24 hours before filing the tabs off... file the tabs off BEFORE applying the nail! No waiting necessary. 😊

Right when I put one on I hold that finger under my hair dryer for a few seconds to warm it up then I press down on them again until it cools. I swear it works especially to seal the edges so no more rogue hair slides under the nail!

Omg the way she pushed those nails down into her skin was cringing!

I love the "imPRESS" sticky nails, but even they will pop off pretty soon. I would usually have one or two that would pop off within a day. I started lightly filing the top of each nail after doing the steps you showed, but I also bought some glue at the Family Dollar store. It's the strongest glue I've ever used and it's cheap. It's from LA Colors. I apply a thin layer over the nail, put the fingernail on, then press/hold for about 15-20 seconds. This allows the glue from the nail to stick to the super strong regular glue and it's about 2 weeks before I notice any become loose and usually, only 2 or 3 become loose. They still don't fall off. I can then add a small amount of glue where it's loose and press them back on.

My hair always at some point gets stuck under them after a few days

My press-ons stay on for more than 2 weeks and I definitely do NOT have to do that kind of damage to my cuticles to get that kind of performance. Every nail tech I've ever met has said that pushing cuticles back that far is bad: It opens you up to infection, and even when it's just irritated it looks bad.

I love buffing my nails before and applying OPI nail strength polish to help protect my nails under. Love this video! ✨

Thank you! I can’t afford gels or acrylics, so this is what’s left. My natural nails are easily broken, very weak and fragile due to health problems.

I can’t believe this lady thought it was a smart idea to make a video talking about how you should potentially damage your nail beds so you have “2 or 3 extra days without that grow out” and even goes as far as to say it’s sore the next day but it’s worth it. A perfect example of why people who don’t specialize in specific topics should not go online and make videos for the public saying whatever they want. I don’t even comment on YouTube videos but I’m a certified esthetician and idk how I came across this video but I’m here to say don’t do this

I had tried Kisspress on nails with the super glue. They fell off within an hour of application.😏 However I recently bought the Impress nail set which is supposedly made from the same Kiss company. The Impress nails with the adhesive peel off, they're great. I put them on and they stick effortlessly quickly on top of my nail and last long and I am very pleased and happy. Washing and doing chores and they're still on, it's great☺☺. Don't buy the super glue ones unless you want to be glueing on nails every half hour.😄😄

They work. I’m in the daycare industry and a set of impress last me about 9 days but, that’s with art projects, hand sanitizers and crazy hand washing.
