In Q10a... how do you know which solution to the double angle rules to use - you used a different one in the denominator compared to the numerator

in question 9a you used let x = -2/5 and 1/2 but in the question it says to x≠1/2 and x≠ -2/5 so isnt that wrong or would the mark scheme allow that method

for q10 at 39:58, how does the numerator simplify to positive 2sin^2theta, when the 1's cancel out, would it not be negative? i.e. 1-1 would simply leave -2sin^2theta
