I am almost 13 months into my 2 year transition. I've never had short hair and I'm not about to start now. Sorry, but no big chopping over here. #teamtransition

I tell people not to transition too long because after 2 years you cut the relaxed ends off and now you have a lot of hair you know absolutely nothing about. I say save your frustration and cut it off after 6-9 months that way you have something to work with but its not overwhelming like 2 years worth of growth

My hair must be different because it went back to exactly how it was before I started getting relaxers. I didn't big chop nor have to cut my relaxed ends. It just simply grew out. I got my ends clipped after being completely natural for about 6 months.

I met a young lady outside a beauty supply store and she was a new natural . She admired my hair and had many questions. This young lady was oblivious about her hair, there are so many people that really dont know where to start. Please continue these kinds of vids!

This video is on point.  Since I have been natural I hear friends say, I have not had a perm in months, I am almost all natural now, just a few straight ends'  No matter what I say they don't get it, then they wonder why "my hair wont curl up like yours".  I'm like CUT IT OFF!

Jenell girl I love how you answered this question in such a non-judgmental way! I work in healthcare and definitely take certain types of information for granted, thinking it's common knowledge. You have a gift as a true teacher!!! Love your vids and instagram posts. Wishing you an amazing 2015!

"Boo boo, you gon be waitin a very long time!" killed me! lol! So very true. I'm mixed (black/filipino) and i've been relaxed for most of my life. I also have very long hair and the bottom layer touches my tailbone. My last relaxer was June 2013 and my new growth has only reached the corners of my mouth. I have decide to semi big chop to my chin when the new growth reaches. Which maybe February or may be even March 2015. That will be 1 year and 9 months of transitioning! Lawd! >_<

Can you do a "maintaining natural hair while working out" time lapse video showing your hair throughout a whole week. I want to see how to sweat daily, and still wear a bomb twist out whenever I need to be out and about. Do you cowash midweek, stay twisted all week and just twist out on weekends? How exactly are you making this work? Help! My hair is holding me back from the gym! Thx in advance!

My girlfriend's transition  took a little longer than 18 months. She wore her real hair under weave caps with a full weave on the cap. She also wore braids.

Big Chopping is awesome! Think about it. You're learning your fully natural hair without the hassle of length lol Plus it's a huge confidence booster if you embrace it!

I transitioned 16 months with no wigs, weaves, or braids. At the end of that 16 months I still had 6 inches of relaxed hair left due to the length I started at (15 inches). Chopping those 6 inches became a non factor when you get fed up lol. That was a JOB!!! It may be scary, but I believe the BC is the way to go.

Very helpful video because I get this question a lot. On another note your hair is super cute, is this a twist out?

I'm glad you made this video because people nearly curse me out when I say eventually you will have to big chop because perm never grow off your ends.

I hate when people say you have to cut you hair off to become natural or your relaxed hair off, if you were really smart you would know that you relax your scalp not you ends, js

Hi Jenell, I'm sure you've said it before but I was wondering what's your hair porosity? I know I'm low porosity I'm not sure what products to use my hair is EXTREMELY!! dry Ive big chopped ... several time because I get frustrated with my 4c hair and relax it then I get sour because it obviously ruins my hair (I'm a gluttony for punishment) Can you advise me on some products that will help moisture my dry hair . Thank you ❤your videos very informative.

I did just what you said (despite my other intention to transition), my last relaxer was on b/c'ed in May 2014 and never looked back....thank you for all your video, blogs, etc
