Want to learn how to fillet a spotted trout in a quick & efficient way? Watch as Capt. Carey of Southern Slam Outfitters walks us through an easy, fast method for cleaning spotted trout boneless.

First cut the belly out by starting at the anal fin and cutting along the white part of the stomach. Once you reach the gill plate, come down with a “V” and turn your knife to cut straight through the middle of the fish along the bone line towards the tail. When you reach the tail, flip the fillet over and glide the knife between the meat and the remaining skin. Then you can flip the trout over and repeat the same steps to get the other fillet. Once you have your fillets, inspect them for any bones and cut out any remaining bone pieces.
