Shocking moment plane crashes into ocean – metres away from lifeguard competition

A plane has crashed into the Pacific Ocean just metres away from dozens of training lifeguards – with the pilot saved by the group.
The small aircraft was pulling a banner along the shoreline of Huntington Beach, Los Angeles, US, when it suddenly dropped last week (July 22) around 1.30pm.
The shocking incident was captured on camera by a beach-goer.
"It's going in the water, it's going in the water, it's going in the water guys," the man who filmed the clip can be heard saying.
As the plane slams into the water, the man continues to say: "Oh, dude, I have it on video!"
In a miraculous stroke of luck, the aircraft managed to land just metres away from a junior lifeguard competition which was going on inside the water at the same time.
Seconds after the impact, dozens of lifeguards rushed to help the pilot, who was pulled out and taken to shore.
He escaped without injury but was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
The video has been viewed over 4.5million times on Twitter – with social media users quick to blast the beachgoer for filming.
One person said: "Hey I won’t go help, I’ll just keep saying I have it on video."
Another person said: "Cool he’s got in on video how bout go save their lives."
Others leaped to the beachgoer's defence.
One Twitter user said: "I just don’t understand, did the people in the comments not watch the same video I did?
"Actual life guards went inside to help…what did y’all expect from the person filming???? To get in the way???". [sic]
