I Can't make up my mind so I have the 2022, 125XC, 2024 TE150, 2022 Beta 200 RR 2023 KX250X, 2023 250XCW 2023 CRF450RX Looking at dumping the Honda for a 390 RR Beta. My favorite of all of them I think is the Beta 200 Least is the Honda 450

You may want to reconsider your appraisal of 1970s enduro bikes.
I bought a new 1971 Penton 125 ISDT- world class enduro bike. Later bought an Ossa Pioneer 250 1972 I believe. Raced enduros on both for years.
Check them out. Japanese bikes were laughed at back the. Penton was made in Austria and Ossa was from Spain. Husky, Bultaco, all European bikes.

You are 100% right on the beginner bike. My first bike was a Yz426 with a bunch of aftermarket parts to make it good for dunes. I didnt know this and tried to ride it in the woods all the time. I was a terrifying bike. Though I did get it out on the dunes a year or so into me riding and after the hour or so to get used to riding on sand. I was smoking everything out there. I ended up selling it though cuz it was more stress than fun.

Enduro bikes are sort of special, not a motocrosser....more like a beefed up sort of trailer at least in my day. I had several bikes over the years, Suzuki, Rickman, Husqvarna and Bultaco. My fave was a 350 Bultaco which was heavily modified from end to end, it was a dream to ride, especially in steep winding trails. Torque was awesome, handled like a ballet dancer and climbed hills like nothing. Low top end, about 68mph On a straight stretch. But everyone who ever rode it came back wit a huge grin, so fun!

Lol, he’s talking about me! I haven’t rode off-road in 25 years. Had a 1980 KDX with worn tires as a teen, beat the crap out of it and had very little problems. Bought a KLX300R this year. Suspension and fuel injection is nice but lacks 2-stroke fun I remember as a child.

Great video thankyou. I am getting my first trail bike after 30 years of not riding off rode. I have only ridden 80cc 2 stroke motor cross. (great fun) I am only 5' 6" and weigh 85kgs. (187lbs) so was going for ttr230 but have since decided on KLX 300r which I will most likely put a lowering link on. Thanks again for the video, very helpful.

Prices are comming down on bikes. I just picked up a KTM EXC 200, '03 model for $2k. 15 hours on new top end and bottom end, and well maintained, upgraded suspension, barely scratched up, and already has a gnarly pipe. It doesn't have modern features like electric start, but 200 2t's are easy enough to kick over that I'm not too worried.
There are gems out there for sure, wish i could have picked up an e-start xc-w 200, but saving 2-3 grand seemed like a smarter idea.

What would you recommend for someone who's 6'7 210 pounds? I want the 300rr but I sat on a xtrainer and it felt very small. Wasn't sure if the 300rr is much bigger or?

What bike do you think would be best for me? I ride mostly cross country terrain but ride hard enduro occasionally. I’ve been looking at the ktm125xc and xcw, or the Yamaha yz125x. I also considered the kx250x and the yz250fx. I’m 5’5 as well.

I believe in 2024, KTM has given the XC's and XC-W's the same transmissions. For desert, until this year, you would have wanted the XC-W because XC's top out at lower speeds. XC for GNCC type stuff, XC-W for enduro or desert. Again, in 2024, transmissions are the same though.
