Honda CRF300L:
Balance is the key when riding any motorcycle. And we’re not talking about just balancing on two wheels: We’re talking about the balance between size, weight, power and handling that makes some bikes great—like the new Honda CRF300L. Based on our previous CRF250L, for 2021, it gets a larger engine with more torque and a whole host of chassis and suspension refinements. What you end up with is one of the best-balanced bikes ever for on- and off-road use. Perfect for weekend trail rides, it’s also among the best choices ever for commuting or urban transportation. And if you’re looking for a version with a windscreen and Dakar-inspired bodywork for a little more weather protection, make sure you check out our new CRF300L Rally.

A lot of people jump right to the KLX for its suspension.
After seeing the cost of the Cogent rear spring and the Race Tech Hi performance fork springs, that’s basically the difference in cost of the two bikes ( $6, 199 KLX vs $5, 399 Honda) and you’ll end up with superior suspension on the CRF )
Here’s the additional features that leans me towards the Honda :
1. Slipper clutch
2. Instrument cluster with fuel gauge, RPM and gear selector indicator, larger screen and easier to see as well
3. Hondas tall 6th gear as you stated
4. Honda offers available ABS
5. Hondas reputation for dependability and longevity
But I believe they’re both great bikes and I’d be happy with either one.

I only recently learned that Dual Sports are what I grew up calling Street and Trail bikes. My father had a few and always referred to them as Street and Trail. The guy at my local honda dealership was very confused until one of the older mechanics overheard us and connected the dots.

Great video Andrew! Welcome back, missed your videos. I Love my crf300l! Plenty of zip and power when I need it both on and off road. And that 6th gear is awesome on long road trips! Keep up the good work with making these informative videos. 👍

Great video! I went with the CRF because of the quality of life stuff like the Slipper clutch, screen, transmission and so on. Because of my weight, either bike would have needed a suspension upgrade. I have had my bike for 2 years and still running stock exhaust and map and have had zero issues with it. I have no idea where he got that info either. Maybe some people talking about the staling issue when you overfill the tank and fuel goes through the vent and into the charcoal canister? I have had no issues with that either since I usually stop at the steel bars. I mean both bikes at the price point that they are, of course there is going to be some compramise and so modding to be done. But I do not regret getting the CRF whatsoever! It's looking great too with the new graphics lol! Anyways, glad to see you back in action and making videos! Cheers!

I just purchased a KLX 300 about 3 weeks ago... I shouldn't have watched this video. Now I have buyers remorse.... should have bought a Honda..😂. Jk I'm happy with my KLX. It's my first motorcycle.

Awesome video! From someone who’s looking to buy and trying to figure out which would be best for me, great information. I’m leaning towards the Honda, for many reasons. Dependability being number one. Thanks for the video, keep them coming!

The KLX is hands down the better bike....cuz its the one I own. That should be the title of this video LOL. Both great bikes, glad we got them! But seriously the KLX doesnt need springs, Im 220lbs and a lot of others will tell u that just 1-4 clicks in harder on compression rides good. Thats not even half of the adjustment and still doesnt bottom out riding hard, there is lots of room to fine tune in these. Best Dual Sports does a 91 ecu flash now for these also.

I went with the CRF 300L for reliability more than anything and I absolutely love it

Great video, Andrew. You were a major factor in me deciding to pick up a CRF300L about a year ago, and I got one for an absolute great deal at $4500. I love the bike and so far have only done a Black Widow Full System, Air filter, and 550 stage 1 tune for 91 octane. This bike does everything I want it to, and more. I don't think I'd ever take the KLX over the CRF, with one of the big reasons also being that the CRF just feels like an all around more modern motorcycle. The upgraded tach provides more info, and the engine itself is much newer than the one the KLX is based on. I am pretty sure the CRF will outlive me if I keep it long enough and take good care of it. You can really throw whatever you want at this bike and it just keeps going.

Thanks for the great video and glad to hear you are recovering well. Ride safe!

Great video! The thing that pushed me to the KLX is I work for a Dealership and got employee pricing!

I have KLX250S and my friend has CRF300L. I really like CRF dashboard with a gear and a fuel indicators. It also has a proper box for tools instead of freaking bag that you need to replace if you want to install a luggage rack. For noobies like we, these details is much more important than a suspension, which is okay for light and inexperienced riders.

I’ve been going back and forth trying to decide which one to buy and I believe this video answered all the questions I had. It’s the Honda for me. Thanks
