Over the years I have been doing this, the question of what dirt bike to buy as people are getting into the sport is the one I've received the most often. There are a number of really great options depending on what type of riding you want to do, and what goals you have.

In this video, I've broken things down to a couple of different genres. The "Racing bred/Enduro" bikes (what you see me riding most of the time), and the "Trail" bikes. We will cover multiple options within those groups for you to choose from.

I just got a 2022 Kawasaki KLX230R as my first ever dirt bike. I was drawn to the reliable motor, low maintenance, electric start, fuel injected, and trail tuned suspension. It doesn't have top end WP shocks or anything but it's probably going to be a far better machine than I am a rider for a very long time. So far it's been a fantastic machine and clocked in brand new at around $5k. I'm happy so far.

I bought the beta 200rr for my wife after your review and you're spot on! It's a Swiss army knife, so smooth and unintimidating for her, but I ride it over my 250 every chance I get because it's so capable and fun! Also I'm a 6ft3 290lb guy and I've never once found it lacking in power it's a surprising little machine

My first enduro was the KTM 350 and I picked it over some of the other bikes you mentioned here and in other videos. I am more than happy with the KTM and the skill sets I've learned on it.

I got 2022 KLX 300R as my first bike and i absolutely love it. It has plenty of power and the fuel injection in addition to the electric start is so user-friendly. I am 38 years old 5’10 and 215lbs. I have zero regrets goin with team green. I plan on having this bike for many years to come. Dont get me wrong i love the braaap braaaap of a 2 Stroke but these 4 Strokes require such low maintenance. Safe Ridin Boys 🍻

I started on a Honda CRF 250R. Bit of a fire breathing dragon. I then went to the Beta 350RR 4 stroke. Great low end power but heavy. Now i have a Beta Xtrainer 300 2 stroke. This bike is for us shorter people. It’s frame is 15% smaller than other full size bikes. It has a 300 2 stroke, but has a smaller pipe and so it is dialed back. But, you can put a full size pipe on it and change it into a full 300RR race addition. So very flexible to grow with. I used to be a fast rider, but now as i have aged, i have dialed back my speed. this xtrainer is the best bike for slow technical. It is a mix between a trials, and enduro. It is only 216lbs. Way more power than a 230 or even the 250x but 30-50lbs lighter. Seat height starts at 35”, and can be lower. that’s 3 inches lower than the others. Game changer for beginners as well as intermediate riders and even advanced older folks.which is me. It is so light. It does have soft suspension, so not a whoops kind of bike. It does have power to do whoops, just not a suspension for it. Sooo much fun!!! And its much much cheaper new than other new bikes. KTM, etc.

Awesome review. I raced over 200 desert races and pro motocross, and I still enjoy watching this. Good job!

My first bike was an 05 CRF250R. I've had it for about a year and a half, and am only now really progressing and getting much better. Even though it is a race bike, I use it more on trails. Hopefully within a year I will be able to get something new, maybe a CRF250RX or YZ250FX. Amazing video as always!

I'm very impressed with the way your graphics turned out on the KTM, the color contrast is perfection.
I want to mention that I've noticed your skill level continue to increase. It's wonderful to watch. It's a lot of hard work, and you're dedicated.

👍 beta 200 rr best bike I’ve owned so far. I bought one after your review on it. Very forgiving, and so much fun to ride.

I picked up a KLX300R for my first dirt bike, I find myself gravitating towards a 2stroke for my next one. However for the lack of ride time and experience, I will need to keep this one for awhile. This thing is like a tractor though. I have had it to the stall point in 2nd gear on hill, grabbed a fistful of throttle, and ready for an upshift. I feel it is very underrated because of its trail bike rating, and lack of aftermarket support.

Im a Vet rider who finds himself gravitating to the older higher performance trail bikes, like the WR250F and KLX300R/KDX200. I think more newer riders should start out on them for $3-4k and learn maintenance on these easy to work on, reliable bikes. And then sell them for the same price they paid.

Kawasaki klx 230r all day long. Blows the ttr 230 out of the water. I put over 320 hours on a 2021 in the 10 months I owned it with just 50 hour oil change and air filter cleanings.

My first bike was a Husqvarna FE250 and I chose that because it was on clearance 2 model years old. I still love it and it never tried to kill me, but still has good power for my larger frame.

Great video as always. Kyle is 100% responsible for inspiring me to get back on a dirt bike for the first time since I was a kid. Started out with a TTR230 and loved it. After a few years had to see why he loves KTMs, and bought a xc-w150 after watching his review. As a 6'1" 250lbs rider both bikes have more than enough power to take on anything in my skill range and much more.

I’m getting back into it at 42 and would definitely consider myself a beginner. I have a CRF 250RX on order.

Bought a 2023 250rx last week and love the bike. Did had whiskey throttle today after a small trail jump and went down. Luckily I’m pretty well off and my Fox V2 saved my head from the handlebars. Pretty sure I fractured one of my ribs 🤣 though, will find out tomorrow. I ride 1000cc bikes on track on the regular and been street riding for over 20years. This is my first dirtbike and have a lot more to learn, it’s different, but it’s absolutely addicting and I’m amazed how fast my 250rx is! Its a beast and love the sound it makes. I’m goad I didn’t get the 450!
