One dead in over 200 car pile-up on Chinese bridge during foggy conditions

More than 200 cars rammed into each other, with some ending up on top of other vehicles, in the capital of the central Chinese province of Henan. The vehicle pile-up, which happened on December 28, 2022, left one person dead. The accident is said to have been caused by dense morning fog that engulfed the bridge in Zhengzhou.

In fact, drivers know there’s a visibility fog and drivers should slow down in the first place. And lastly there’s light and horn in youre car. It’s so easy to that.

I might be wrong, but did they not turn on their fog lights?? And I couldn’t fathom out the reason some drivers refuse to turn their lights on in rain or fog?? Like don't they realize that while they may be able to see fine, other drivers CAN'T SEE THEM 😭

I remember in the UK driving on the motorway 70miles per hour and suddenly drive into a fog that has literally 5meter visibility, it was the scariest thing, cuz u dont know how fast ppl are driving behind you and yet no idea where the next car is Infront of you.

Why drive so fast when it's foggy? And did all put double-blink light during the time? Once a blue moon my place do get dense fog early morning, i always put on hazard double-blink light with headlights/taillights on and drive super slow.

That's sad. These things do happen a lot on foggy roads. It's always better to find a safe spot and wait and let the fog lift.

Lesson is don't drive in fogs. Especially on the highway. One mistake and it leads to pilelups.

Less than 500 meters of visibility? Lol. In finland we have less than 30m

No matter how cautious you are or how safe you want to be by slowing down, you will almost certainly end up in a pile of cars if someone rear-ends you. If you don't want any accident then don't drive!
