How to Use Type 2 Diabetes Injection | Trulicity (dulaglutide) | 1mg

Your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse can help you choose the injection site that is best for you. You may inject the medicine into your stomach, abdomen, or thighs. Another person may give you the injection in your upper arm. You must change or rotate your injection site each week. You may choose the same area of your body, but the injection site must be a different one in that area.
Once the injection site has been chosen, follow the below mentioned steps –

1) Make sure the pen is locked
2) Pull off and discard the grey base cap
3) Do not put the base cap back on as this could damage the needle
4) Do not touch the needle
5) Place the clear base flat and firmly against the skin at the injection site
6) Unlock by turning the lock ring
7) Press and hold the green injection button, and you will hear a loud click
8) Continue holding the clear base firmly against your skin until you hear a second click.

This happens when the needle begins to retract which occurs in about 5-10 seconds
Remove the pen from your skin
You will know the injection is complete when the grey part is visible.

I was told by a doctor you can also take it out of the fridge and let it sit for 30 minutes so it's not as cold (supposedly hurts more if cold?) but before injecting yourself, wipe the spot with alcohol so the skin is clean and doesn't introduce bacteria into your body upon the insertion of the needle.

The manufacturer says the interval between the two clicks should be 5-10 seconds. It definitely isn't. It's more like 1-2 seconds. Likely problem with the delivery mechanism.

Ty so much. I was on Ozempic but started having issues with my Gerd ( to the point I could barely swallow fluids) so they took me off and prescribed Trulicity. I’m scared to start it because of possible side effects and also didn’t know how to use it but have to do something cause my sugars are in the 400’s and 500’s again 😔

Trulicity hit nerve (my right thigh is not feeling right) I did something wrong. I cannot for the life of me inject my abdomen I weigh 162 lbs. and doing it makes me chicken out. I injected my right thigh two weeks ago and I still have pain at the injection site and now its hurting at my outer right knee. I love Trulicity. It has done wonders for me. I can only inject my left thigh. I am going to see my doctor for an MRI as I think the medicine is trapped in the nerve or the needle hit it.

So unlike pushing inj Lantus, it is not necessary to get a portion of inj site propped up ! I thought this required bcoz of the size of Aplevant needle .
