It's easy to work together in small groups... 6 is manageable number bring a 100 people it's a different case bring a thousand or a million people your going to need to get civilised quick

Civilization as we know it does not need to exist. I'm pretty sure we would be happier people living wild being civilized with others and civilization are two separate things.

Both the film and the real world event come to reasonable conclusions. Although the movie is flawed in the sense that the schoolboys who I assume were friends to begin with would end up destroying each other and risk compromising their own survival while doing so. The boys in the real world event were already friends and were raised in the same nation and culture, which proves that a bond is required to maintain trust and cooperation. Violence has always been a part of human life and always will be. The violence in our past primarily occurred with differing peoples, Today it is the same thing.

Civilization is just a word to explain becoming more efficient at managing resources and leadership. With or without modern civilization people will be the same.

The issue we have is trying to organize billions of people under only a small number of governments. Harsh heavy-handed government isn't needed with smaller populations. The bigger the government, the more authoritarian it must be. We should split governments the way we split monopolies. Maybe we should split the United States back up into states that are united. That was how it was originally supposed to be.

Those six were already friends so that's not the same. It's a small group easier to manage so not like with large groups where conflicts and problems will inevitably arise.

The idea that we would just magically go extinct without civilization is silly to me. This doesn't require a boring video. The simple fact that we didn't go extinct before civilization and the fact that there are far less intelligent species that exist without it are proof that we don't need it. Civilization grants prosperity and security, both of which are things we can technically live without, albeit in anguish. The desire to receive basic needs without having to suffer for it is not a necessity. It's a desire so deeply ingrained into our psyche it seems like a necessity without thinking about it.

I havent watched the video yet, but the short answer is: NO WE DONT NEED. Tbh, I would be really happy in a "last man on Earth" scenario, the only thing I would do the other way as Phill (Tandy) did is that I would never write anywhere that "Alive Would be just good ALONE!
