IMO, it would make the most sense if the Annunaki were from another civilization, now lost to time, who migrated to what would become Sumeria and brought their knowledge with them. They don’t have to be aliens or heavenly beings. They could have just been other humans who had gained knowledge that was previously unknown and shared it in exchange for resettlement, security, community, etc.

Most of the research indicates that the Annunaki come from the Orion star system. They can be extraterrestrial or even extradimensional. The name Annunaki means those who came down to Earth from the heavens, and it suggests they could soar back upwards at will. The Sumerians actually are the cradle of civilization, its unfortunate that we haven't learned much about it.

The annunaki are mentioned in every continent In different periods of time, and have different names. The 7 annunaki kings/rulers(enki, enlil, ningishzidda, ninurta, marduk, and innana, and 1 other) were the main players. In Indian texts they speak about the 7 sages/rishis. Then we go over to colorodo where we have the anasazi Indians speaking about beings with animal heads, and in west Africa the dogon tribe also has thousands of stories about the star people(annunaki). Ningishzidda(who is known as Thoth from ancient Egypt) went to South America and spread his knowledge, and in Sumerian text was known as the winged serpent, and currently in South American region is known as the feather serpent(qeocolzoatl). To go even further they have mentioned of the annunaki in both the Bible and Quran followed by billions of people. Bible mentiones the 7 princes of hell, the Quran mentions the 7 jinn kings. And it was Thoth who built the pyramids not the humans, written in the emerald tablets.

That's interesting.
In some theology, it was the fallen angels who taught man about fire, mechanics, and other things. Angels.
Similar religious beliefs in various cultures since then, too. Deities coming down to teach people. It could be the same story or beings like in this clip, just updated to the new civilization's culture each time instead (Egypt, Greece, Rome).

That ancient mesopotamian or summerian society was maybe not the first society ...it'd just that they were the first big and popular ones ...maybe there were a lot more civilization who were not that big in size but was everywhere around the world ...and then thiusands of years later ...these civilization came together to form a kind of kingdoms trying to make a bigger civilization or city or cities ..
