Thank you for presenting this so respectfully. I, too, suffer from being “too analytical, but was active in the Church for nearly fifty years. By the time I left, I just couldn’t “square” the inconsistencies and the lack of answers when I questioned certain things. I will always be thankful for the Church, and cannot express the love I felt from the good Latter-Day Saints I have met and loved over the years. They are amazing people. That being said, I had reached the point where my frustrations overrode their love and support. I had to be honest with myself first. From that all knowledge and respect follows. I have returned home to the Catholic faith I was raised with, and have honestly been enriched and fulfilled. Change is difficult, and change without blame is even more difficult. I will always love and respect the LDS church, but my analytic brain and my spiritual life required I walk away. We each have our own paths, and I appreciate the love and respect with which you presented your experience. God bless you for your courage.

I find your comments very compelling. I have known several ex-mormons whose experience is so traumatic that they leave everything, (throwing the baby out with the bath water). You both stand for something and your message is one of real strength. Being able to do what you did in spite of family pressure is a true act of faith.
