When dating someone new, how long before committing?

It's almost Christmas and I didn't know my ex would have someone by now, we broke up just 6 months ago...Yet he just posted a picture with her covering her face.
2 months ago he told me he wasn't doing good, I knew he was playing with me, he HAS SOMEONE and prob wanted to make me feel bad about the situation.
I miss our memories, the look in our eyes, I miss talking about how I feel about him. He was the only one I trusted after a long time but he completely broke me, cheated on me and more.
I hate myself for still loving him.
