This place isnt like the West portrays China at all..

Turns out many of us have been missing out 😅

We are Pat & Giulia, a couple from 🇬🇧 and 🇮🇹 living in London.

We decided to go travelling and ended up living getting stuck in Malaysia during 2020 which spurred the creation of this channel, we're now back on the road after a lengthy hiatus!

We're Malaysian enthusiasts who enjoy discovering spots off the tourist trail and don’t like taking ourselves too seriously. We're not here to be vloggers or to be famous, we're not necessarily here to "inspire" anyone to travel either - just enjoy the spontaneous fun of it, weird situations and of course making local friends.

A sizeable part of Japanese and Korean cultures are borrowed from China, including Chinese characters 汉字 ie. Japanese kanji / Korean hanja. About 60% of both the Japanese and Korean vocabulary are borrowed from Chinese. Additionally, some things that originated from China but almost always mistaken for Japanese origins include matcha/greentea, gyoza, bonsai, etc.

China has one of the most variety of vegetarian cuisine in the world, you guys will definitely love it! Look up some vegetarian restaurants, they usually make almost all normal Chinese dishes into vegetarian style and it's absolutely delicious!

Cats in Japan are believed to have originated from China. It is generally thought that during the Tang Dynasty, the eminent monk Jianzhen brought cats to Japan to protect precious Buddhist scriptures from being damaged by rats on the ship. These cats, therefore, came to be known as "Tang cats." At that time, cats were rare in Japan and were kept only by the royal family and temples. Due to their association with Buddhism, Japanese people attributed various spiritual abilities to cats, such as bringing good fortune, turning luck around, and guarding luck. This is the origin of the Shosoin Fortune Cat.

From the name of your channel, I think you are a vegetarian. I suggest you try a vegetarian restaurant in China. Seeing that you have been eating tofu for several meals, I think it is a waste of your opportunity if you don't try Chinese vegetarian food. Chinese vegetarian food will surprise you.
Some Chinese vegetarian restaurants are buffet style, and some are the same as ordinary restaurants. Buffet style ones are generally not too expensive, at most about 100 RMB per person. If it is an ordinary vegetarian restaurant, it will be more expensive, the most expensive can be 1000 RMB per person, and the cheaper ones can be about 100 RMB per person. You can search it on the Internet.
By the way, the Chinese character "素" means vegetarian.

Now is the rainy season in the south, and it is unlikely to get sunny in the next month. On the positive side, if it's not raining, you'll have to queue everywhere in Shanghai during the peak tourist season.

hey don't eat just tofu, there are a lot of vegetarian options in China like Jian Bing (煎饼), Jiang Xiang Bing (酱香饼), similar to crepe or pancake, Baozi (包子) it's a steamed bun they have red bean, custard etc, Zong Zi sticky rice wrapped in bamboo leaves there are a lot of options for you not just tofu.

Haha, this no-man controlled street wine bar could never be placed on the streets of London, New York, or any metropolis in the West for sure. Someone would break into it within minutes.
