Why nobody wanted us to visit China...🇨🇳 (FIRST TIME IN CHINA!)

Our first time in China!
We were anxious and nervous to arrive to Shanghai, China on a 144-HR visa free transit because we heard that if we have stamps from certain countries, we may get rejected and denied entry.
This exemption would allow us to stay in China within 144-hr or 6 days.
It had been our long-time dream to travel China, so we were hoping we could visit the country.
With the policy, we were only allowed to explore Shanghai.
Because of covid and western medias, many people told us not to visit China.
But China was not what we expected. China surprised us!
Is China dangerous? Is China safe? What's China really like? Check out our vlog!

China has alot to offer as a travel destination. It is unfortunate many people are easily swayed by negative western media (due to political and economic reasons). Many have not even travelled out of their own state/province/country at all and thus have to depend on the biased nature of the media. Go see for yourselves if you are financially able to do so.

those are not police, they are security guards. unlike in the US, they are very nice, if you get into a problem, such as lost something or looking for a place, you can approach them.

I believe that anyone who comes to China and feels the cultural heritage of this land will be attracted, and can not help but feel the different scenery of various places, and the Chinese food is very delicious! I am in Guangzhou, travel to recommend some foreign friends to go to Qinghai Lake, Xinjiang Kashgar, Dunhuang, Hainan Island, recently resigned to go to Xinjiang Taklamakan Desert bicycle ride 700km, from Bazhou to Kashgar, Lanzhou Ran back to Guangzhou is very happy!

A little travel advice, If you're interested in seeing the chinese advancements and history:
If you want to explore the 3000 years of history, go to Xi'an.
If you want to explore the 1000 years of history, go to Beijing.
If you want to explore the last 100 years of China going from colonization to modernization, go to Shanghai.
If you want to see modern blade-runner-like infrastructure and seemingly impossible urban planning done in the last 40 years, go to Chongqin.
If you want to see the future, go to Shenzhen.

That's a very very rough and overall thing to say, and If we add the different landscapes and biomes that China offers, there would be no end to the list.
And what's the best thing of all of that? That the whole China has first class safety no matter where you go, so there's nothing like "being in the wrong place at the wrong time" kind of bs, and you are able to freely explore.

As a Chinese/ Taiwanese, I’ve been to China and Shanghai for many times. In the past few years they’ve progressed too fast not only for their hardware- high rises / electric cars/ cell phone payments, but cultural wise- service quality/ food/ and their people.

I often tell my friends and relatives about it, they should all visit China when they have the chance to experience how China is like😊

Thank you Steve and Ivana for taking me to the streets I’ve never been in Shanghai! Very glad to see it and will share it to everyone I know!!😉

Great video. I'm a British expat living in Shanghai since 2005, so it was interesting to see Shanghai through a fresh pair of eyes. McDonald's prices are the same ordering from the machines or the counter. If there's a price difference it is probably NOT the same coffee. "Natie" is simply the Chinese translation of Latte, but I think you may have ordered from the McCafe menu which is more expensive than the McDonald's menu (and slightly better quality). The noodle you chose was braised soy sauce beef soup noodles, but the restaurant itself is Chongqing style, which is a city in the south west of China where most of the dishes are spicy.

worked in downtown shanghai for 5.5 years, i used to walk along east nanjing road every day to take metro, enjoy your stay in china, one suggestion is to try restaurants in those back allies, which is far better than those touristy areas

In China, not all folks wearing uniform are police. A lot of them are private security guards for shops. The uniform is similar to police.

When traveling to Shanghai, please walk from Jing'an Temple to Wujiang Road. Unlike Nanjing East Road, this is where locals really go shopping. Nanjing East Road is full of tourists. Also recommended is Xintiandi.

Visited China once in 2017, definitely, would very much to visit it again, near future. For those who has got any negative thoughts, put aside politics, do come and experience for yourself, before commenting further...

As an American that has lived in China now for the last 6 years, I love watching these videos of the newbies traveling to Shanghai and elsewhere. The naivety is so cute.😂

Some Western media are vilifying China. In reality, Chinese people are very friendly, and only those who have been here can truly feel it. Thank you for your video, it was brilliant.

With the 144-hr visa free transit you're actually allowed to travel not just in Shanghai but also in 2 neighboring provinces - Jiangsu and Zhejiang.

In fact, it's better to use translation apps when you go to other countries and you don't speak their languages. That will be really convenient to communicate with the locals.

Littering is not the business of cameras. The main purpose of cameras is to protect the safety of passers-by, especially at popular attractions. Once anything happens, the suspect can be quickly tracked. So, security increases due to these cameras.

Great video! Well done. It's wonderful to hear you had a fantastic time in China. My wife and I explored Beijing in September this year, and we'd love to see you visit Beijing in your future videos.
