The Battle for Crimea and the Black Sea

Recent events have shown that the western coast of Crimea and the Black Sea waters near it have become vulnerable to the assaults by the Ukrainian army. After the landing on Tarkhankut, Ukrainian scouts carried out another risky operation and returned 4 oil production platforms, the so-called Boyko's towers, under Ukrainian control. These platforms were occupied back in 2015 and have since turned into Russian military intelligence bases. Since last summer, Ukraine has been controlling the waters in this area, and after the sinking of the Vasily Bekh vessel, Russians have not dared to deploy ships here. Now, after Russian troops have lost these observation posts, the most remote of which is located less than 60 km from the peninsula, the de-occupation of Crimea is even closer.

On the night of September 13, three Ukrainian missiles hit a repair dock in Sevastopol Bay. As a result, the Minsk large amphibious assault ship and the first submarine Rostov-on-Don were hit. The details are not yet known, but Russians seem to be unlikely to use this dock in Sevastopol until the end of the war.
