Bug has 7 bad offensive matchups. That’s almost 1/2 of all pokemon types which resist bug. Fairy resisting bug was an awful choice, bug needed SOMETHING, and instead it just got sucker-punched in the gut

Bug has the benefit of growing up fast, often evolving quickly and top out fast, often reaching their final evolutions before other pokemon even evolve Once, which makes for good early partners. However, they're usually the first to be replace in the mid to early late game since their type coverage can still be replaced easily with pokemon that are slow growers but top out harder.

I still thing poison is a decent secondary typing. Unlike rock, ice, and bug, you can actually gain a bit from having poison as your second type since it has 5 resistances and only 2 weaknesses.

Normal: "WHY CAN'T I BE SUPER EFFECTIVE?!"
Rock: "I'm a defensive type, right? Then don't give me 5 GODDAMN WEAKNESSES"
Poison: "thank you for making the fairy type, but I'm still offensive trash, make me strong against more stuff!"
Ice: "my type has many defensive weaknesses and offensive advantages, so I should be fast and strong, right? THEN WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU STILL CREATING DEFENSIVE ICE-TYPES LIKE AVALUGG!? MAKE MORE WEAVILES!!"
Bug: "please end my suffering"

Rock type is a weird case imo where it actually works pretty well as a more offensive type, but for some reason they gear a bunch of rock type mons as more defensive fighters, where they get swept away by Close Combat
