I must be a complete Enigma! Not only did I come from a single-parent household but I was also physically and mentally abused by said parent, my parents divorced before I was 3! I went on to serve in the Military like my father and older brothers, I went to college and have 2 degrees and I have a family of my own and I just started a business! I guess I broke the mold!

I was having a chat with a reitred Irish man about this subject last night. He said that 50 years aog the priests in Ireland instructed their parishoners not to vote for politicians who advocated welfare for single mums. That was the sum total of the conservative argument 50 years ago. Now we have the data. And it's overwhelmingly on the side of Leavitt and Dubner's old saying; People react to incentives. >Stop rewarding bad behaviour.
