Honestly, if you're searching "What is the best os for hacking" learn a programming language before you worry about hacking.
I'll pick one for you, JavaScript. Learn JS, then worry about Hacking. Actually, learn JavaScript, then learn ReactJS. Give yourself 6 months to really learn and solidify your knowledge, then spend a couple weeks on HTML and CSS to acclimate to front-end programming. Now you're not only employable, but you're mind is trained how to think like a computer. Until then, you're just having fun running outdated scripts.

I still use KALI, I get what people say about it being loaded with too many tools but when I am in the field and don't have easy access to the internet it helps to already have everything I'd need instead of trying to grab them via data connection. At home though I just use lightweight Linux builds and spin them up as VMs.

I think the idea on "how to hack" is very very important. Whenever I get stuck with some practice VM and do google search how others have come up to crack the same box, I get astonished with their ideas.

But having said that, I can also feel that whichever OS gives you more and reliable options to get access to those tool that will enable you to perform penetration testing, is to be preferred more.

But as you said, the base line OS does not matter unless, you need a very specific tool that is developed into a very specific OS.

What I generally do is to "weaponize" the OS to make it access and use those tools that I would be needing; and I think you should make at least 3 part video on how to "weaponize" different mainstream OSs.

Other than that, keep up the good work.

ParrotSec OS is the correct answer unless of course you do CrossFit, in which case BlackArch would probably be a better fit for you because then you can tell everyone you meet about it

I am a huge fan of you and your videos. Even though I don't understand a lot of linux. I work daily on Voyager and also by your recomandition on Parrot..love it! But I see there is something I can teach you: at the end of you video you write in 10 differentl languages "thanx for watching..." this you can add it too: here is one in my native language that you may add : "bedankt voor het kijken"... It is in Dutch.. (Thanx for watching...) Thank you soo much for anything. RAZZ

ParrotOS as like Kali-Linux, both of them have a Debian substructure. I think it counts down on your personal preference cosmetic "GUI" style of the OS. For the full potential of Linux only the command line counts anyway AND the command-line looks and feel on both system the same way ;)

I run Artix (Arch without systemd), and just add a blackarch keyring and thats how I get what I need when I need it. Then again I don't video edit nor do I work with graphics. I just devel backend stuff most of the time.

I used Parrot Security OS for my daily driver so it’s good for that as well in my experience

I have used both Kali and Parrot. By far Parrot has the best theme, it looks so beautiful. Comes with more tools installed than Kali. The only thing I don't like is Mate terminal. I can split terminal very easy in Kali but with Parrot I have to use tmux. After 2 months I decide to stick with Kali though, with me Kali is standard.

I like his mind I agree never box yourself in from the world in order to learn you must know how to think freely especially for hacking/security purposes

You don't need to virtualise anything from linux on the Mac. You can compile all linux apps, directly for the Mac because they are Unix/Linux based. Especially for rainbow tables and brute-force cracking it works way faster if you compile the apps directly for the Mac with Home-brew or MacPorts. It even beats bare metal Kali or Parrot

Linux is the preferred OS in the Cyber Security field. But to be a true hacker you mustn't limit yourself to any 1 OS. Hacking is a never ending journey of knowledge which includes OS.
Thx Sploit 👍 because you are right...

Im using BlackArch (all Tools) with Xfce4 Environment and in my opinion it is difficulter than Kali, Parrot

You can automatically eliminate windows and Mac OS. If you install the proper tools on any Linux distribution, you will be fine. Kali and Parrot just have them preinstalled for you. So at the end of the day it’s all about convenience.

Edit: To sum it all up, there is no such thing as the best OS for hacking, it’s which tools you use
