How to : Backup Your Android Phone to a PC [Easiest & Safest Way]

If you are selling your Android phone, but don’t want lose your data and contents? In this video we will show you step by step process for the easiest and the safest way to back up your android phone to a windows PC before you do a hard reset.

A couple notes on my experience using this technique:

1. Is only reliable if all the folders and files on your Android device comply with Windows naming rules. For example, Android allows the colon character (:) in a name while Windows does not; Explorer will hiccup and abort whenever an invalid name is encountered. I was able to work around this by temporarily renaming the offending folder or file while backing up; but not practical if you have a lot of them. The X-plore app allows you to access files in Android system folders.

2. USB 2 connections max out around 10 MB/sec while USB 3 can sustain 100 MB/sec or better. The connection speed is dependent on both sides having USB 3 capability. Many mobile devices are USB 2 only and will take 10x the time of a USB 3 transfer.

3. There are alternative methods if you are desperate: Windows based backup systems (make sure it does app data) or the ABD/Debugging commands Backup/Restore or Pull/Push.

This way you only backup internal storage, but it doesn't backup app data, which is mostly done by rooting device.
