As we head back to school we're talking about how important it is to know where to look, so you can save time and quickly make progress in your aerial work.

Today's sequence starts out so nicely and then look what happens! It really breaks the spell when an aerialist starts kicking off their footlock. The eye is drawn to wherever the movement is, so all I'm doing here is making sure everyone is staring at my foot as it gets stuck in the fabric. We often call this kicking toilet paper off your foot because it is a funny way to remind students it is an unflattering bad habit.

What to do instead? Focus on every movement, not just the ones that you think are the most impressive! Here are two techniques that work to nicely and unobtrusively remove the dancer footlock in this sequence.

1. Step forward and down, then retrace the circular motions to unwrap the wraps.
2. Step forward and down, then bend and straighten the leg twice to remove the wrap.

Try it out and let us know how it goes!
