I chose Plan G. While you are correct that *today* only 2% of providers charge excess chargers, but when you a buy a plan you are most likely locked into that plan for life (obviously you can move to another state). And what I was concerned about is while I’m 2022, when I had to choose my supplement, excess charges are not an issue, I have - and you have - no idea if that looks very different in 2033.

I made the same decision for my insurer. I picked UHC because 1. It has the strongest financials (A+ at AM Best), and is by far the largest insurance company, Medicare supplement and MA included, in the US. So when I think about rate stability and being strong financially in 10+ years from now, that matters more than saving $10 a month on premiums.

Thoughts as to my logic?

We have plan G and yes, premiums have gone up yearly. We are very happy with this plan though. When we started we didn't expect illnesses down the road. Now, my husband has many issues and we are blessed we picked G! Thanks for the info and happy anniversary!

Happy anniversary. Enjoy. I like a couple of other plan options for a few people. But I loved your proposal for Medicare. Offer everyone a type of supplemental plan with government support and backing. Put advantage to rest in a few years. Great idea Chris you had a couple weeks ago.
