Dr. Karen Becker from Merola advised against neutering/spaying your dog. But I am confused because I also hear from other vets that if we don't neuter - our dogs are likely to get ovarian cancer in female dogs, etc. Who should we believe then? I'm interested in some data about this - how many dogs lived long lives because they were neuter, etc. Thanks

Hi. Please can you send me the link to that study (where dogs and cats that are spayed or neutered have less diseases) that you mention in your video. Thanks .

But Dr, I dont have a choice when it comes to professional breeders, who will make me sign a contract saying that If I get a pup from them I HAVE to neuter/spay them. I know they are protecting their livelyhood but I am a responsible pet owner and I wouldnt encroach on thier business by breeding my dog for profit.
Please tell me how can I have a choice to NOT neuter/spay my dogs? Its so frustrating what some breeders(most) want me to go through. :(

I have been reading a lot and watching a lot of videos to decide whether to neuter my 2 and 1/2 year old male German Shepherd and I am still as confused as ever. My last German Shepherd male I neutered a little after 10 months and he died from hemangiosarcoma of the heart, he was already over weight with hip dysplasia. Did the neutering contribute to that? I have no idea. Each vet has their own views. I am a pharmacist and I spoke with a customer who has her own vet practice and she told me that neutering has a lot of positive health outcomes. She wasn't selling me anything but she told me what she really believes.

Hello I was wondering if my dog could die because I didn’t spay her before she was a year old ( my dog is 2 years old and she is a toy poodle). I wouldn’t want to do the surgery and risk her to die. I need to know what I can do about this because I want her to live long.

If my dog is 10yrs old in human years. Is it dangerous to have her spayed? I read something about vets can grant letter to not have a dog spayed due to age

I lost two spayed cats. One got hit by a car running from male cats and the other one was a male that was killed by stray dogs because he got so fat probably due to the inactivity of his hormones.

This is only about vets making money. Don't fix anything if it is snot broken.

Hi Dr. I'm interested in being Veterinarian but I can't neuter an animal because of my Christian religion. Do I require to do it or I have to even I don't want to do it?

BEFORE CONTINUING I MUST ADD BIENG A PET PARENT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND A HUGE RESPONSIBILITY PLEASE DON'T MAKE THAT STEP AND REGRET THE DECISION AND RETURN THEM PLEASE YOU EITHER SAVE A DOGS LIFE WHEN YOU BECOME A RESPONSIBLE PET PARENT OR YOUR SETTING IT UP TO DIE IF YOUR NOT AND I COULDN'T LIVE NOT KNOWING WHERE MY DOG IS AT ALL TIMES.

NOW MY OPINION ON THE VIDEO

i agree and disagree . I agree with him because i have a dog and i wouldn't want to neuter him unless i have to due to health complications, as a pet parent i have to be his voice since he has none but i don't think i can live with that decision if it didn't have a huge reason in benefiting my dog-son BY DOING SO. Now thats in my case, however, for those people who want to profit out of breeding dogs, i suggest you don't pass one litter because i don't even know a real statistic but I'm pretty sure 2-8 dogs really get a forever home. Other 6 get thrown into the breeding cycle and have more puppies who are just basically money factories and not viewed as a real member of the family
Do you really think that all your dogs grandkids/grandpuppies gonna find forever homes? nope most of them are gonna get thrown around house and communities and live a sad cruel unhumane life and if your not mature enough to understand that you deserve a neutered dog so you won't ruin those puppies life. so before you make that decision think about the future generations/litter of your dogs kin and how many will defiantly die. with that being said if your a responsible pet parent and know people in advance who would want a puppy dont sell them the puppies give it to them for free if they wanna offer you some money thats cool now the only catch with that since they are receiving the puppies for free interview them and be strict with your expectations from them try to check up on them and see how the dogs doing because you don't wanna give your dog kids out to be abused and exploited because bringing a new dog/life into to this world just to be put to death row is FUCKED UP and you should be put to death row for doing so. money comes and goes don't ruin dozens potentially hundred of lives to a make a quick couple hundred bucks .

My cat has Cerabellard Hyperlachia. She is 8 years old and not spayed. She goes in heat every few months and I comfort her, so does my older male neutered cat. He comforts her and after about one week she is normal again. The vet said she is a high risk and would not recommend having her spayed. I don't want to take the chance so I just let her be as is.

Saying things like "we see this a lot " is meaningless language in scientific terms you fail to present the large body of data that conclusively show the prevalence of cancers in intact animals is actually very low and in fact the intervention of these unnessasry procedures creates many problems especially when carried out at a young age
